New Mario Kart for Arcades Announced

A third installment to the Nintendo and Namco Bandai published Mario Kart arcade series is coming to Japan, titled as Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. The game will follow what previous installments did, adding whacky character additions and brand new tracks that have never been seen before.

Elements from past Mario Kart titles, specifically Mario Kart 7, are set to return. The gliding and underwater aspects have already been confirmed through screenshots, and it’ll be interesting to see what else makes it into the game. Most of the characters from Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 return, with the addition of a character from the Taiko Drum Master series:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Peach
  • Toad
  • Yoshi
  • Bowser
  • Donkey Kong
  • Pac-Man
  • Taiko Drum Master character

Waluigi, Wario, Ms. Pac-Man, Mametchi, and Blinky have not yet been spotted. A billboard of Daisy can be seen in one of the screens.

The game will feature a Grand Prix mode (single player), Co-op mode (two players), “Clone” Battle mode (single player), and four player Competitive mode. Despite the fact that an all new Mario Kart is already in development for the Wii U, this arcade game is planned to release this year, with a playable demo being made available at the Japan Amusement Expo on February 15 and 16. Expect more to come from this interesting announcement in the coming weeks!
