Mario Party 8 made the jump to the Nintendo Wii and introduced motion controlled minigames, six new boards, the candy item system, and two new characters.
Mario Party 8 delivers the usual Mario Party outing. There are six boards, each with its own set or rules and objectives, and two new playable characters are added with the introduction of Blooper and Hammer Bro. What makes this one different is addition of the Wii Remote. The motion sensing pointer is used to flip through menus and select options while you play, but it’s more importantly used to enhance, and in some cases worsen, the way minigames are played. Beyond that, a story mode of sorts returns and Carnival Cards are collected to get unlockables.
