Mario Strikers: Battle League features five on five soccer gameplay with a host of different playable characters, including newcomer Rosalina. Items like Green Shells and Giant Bananas can be used against enemy teams, and don’t forget, you can get rough and slam right into opponents to get ahold of the ball. Hyper Shots are character specific special shots that blast the ball towards the goal, but they also provide an extra effect dependent on the character. After over a decade since Mario Strikers: Charged released on the Nintendo Wii back in 2007, the series returned on the Nintendo Switch with Mario Strikers: Battle League on June 10, 2022.

Mario Strikers: Battle League DLC
Hooray, more content! Mario Strikers: Battle League DLC is officially real and Nintendo laid out their plans to release three waves of free content before the end of 2022. Each wave consists of two characters, one stadium, and a gear set.
List of Characters
There are twelve playable characters available right when you start the game. No unlockable characters in Mario Strikers: Battle League, not even Daisy. However! Nintendo ultimately released Mario Strikers: Battle League DLC adding Daisy, Shy Guy, Pauline, Diddy Kong, Birdo, and Bowser Jr. through post-launch updates. Here is the full roster of 16 playable characters:

Cup and Mode Unlockables
Once again, not much to unlock in terms of modes. It’s essentially win first place in a variety of cups to unlock more cups. Here’s what you need to know:

There is one set of unlockable gear that becomes available once you complete all the cups in Normal Mode. These pieces of armor cost 300 each.

How to Get Coins and Tokens
Use coins to unlock gear for each character and to give yourself the opportunity to retry a match while playing in a cup. Here are a few ways to get coins:

| 20 | Win an online match. |
| 10 | Tie an online match. |
| 30 | Win a match in Strikers Club. |
| 20 | Tie a match in Strikers Club. |
| 15 | Lose a match in Strikers Club. |
Tokens are earned and used with the Strikers Club mode. Compete against other clubs and earn tokens after each match. Use those tokens to add new features to your club’s stadium. We’ll update this list once we learn new ways to earn tokens.

You can also earn tokens as a reward for competing in a season. The amount can vary as it depends on your division and your placement within the season, but we’ve seen some rewards go up as high as 15,000.

At launch, Mario Strikers: Battle League had five different stadiums to play on. Sorry, no unlockable stadiums this time around. Desert Ruins, Planetoid, and Urban Rooftop were added in free updates after launch.

Before starting a match, you’ll have the option to mash two different stadium halves together to make interesting combinations. If you’re part of a club, each stadium can be upgraded to expand the stadium theme, fence post, goal-line decoration, goals, and field. These customizations can be accessed in your Strikers Club options and can be purchased using tokens. Tokens are collected as a group. The more active players you have in your club, the faster you’ll unlock tokens.
Each stadium follows the same unlock structure for each customization. Purchasing the stadium theme upgrades is what unlocks additional customizations and makes them available for purchase. Check out this stadium customization video by YouTuber GoDlI for a look at almost all of the customizations.

One more thing! The same update that added customizable supporters also added the addition of customizable match celebrations. This new option allows you to pick three different firework types to feature in your match, as well as the confetti style. These cost coins instead of tokes to purchase, interestingly.
