Deep Sea Divers is a 2-vs-2 minigame from the original Mario Party on the Nintendo 64.
Overview
Control Stick: Move boat left to right
A: Swim
Eight treasure chests line the ocean floor and surrounding drop-offs, and each team is tasked to dive in, grab the chests, and return them to their boat to get the coins inside. One player on each team controls the boat and the fishing line that’s attached to the second player, who will be the one diving around. The bigger the chest, the harder it will be to bring it back to the boat.
The chest at the bottom has 10 coins, and the other chests can have anywhere from five coins to a single coin. If you take too long underwater, a countdown will start. If it hits zero, you’ll drop the chest. If the other player is nearby, they can grab it!

Strategies
You know, these in-game minigame descriptions don’t always tell you everything you need to know. Look over our strategies section for lesser-known tips and secrets, especially those shared by the community!
- The deeper a treasure chest is, the more coins it contains!
Thanks, Spongyoshi!
- As a player on the boat and when your teammate has gone to look for a treasure, if the opposing team tries to trace the player who owns the treasure, you can push the one on the boat and hinder him. This can either make it take longer for the player containing the treasure to climb up, or hinder the player on the boat while he turns the stick.
