Bowser’s Magma Mountain is an unlockable and the seventh board in the original Mario Party for the Nintendo 64.
Board Map
Bowser’s Magma Mountain is a single linear path, but it’s filled with shortcuts that you can use, but only if luck is on your side. There are seven possible Star locations on this map. Remember, once a Star has occupied a space, it won’t return to that spot until all seven locations have been used.

Overview
Shortcuts are the name of the game in Bowser’s Magma Mountain. Along the linear path that winds up through the center of the mountain are three junctions. Each one is guarded by weird molten heads that will only let you pass if cough up 10 coins and roll a Star in the roulette. If you get Bowser, you gotta continue on the linear path.
The top of the board has another one of the molten heads, but this one is purple. Same concept, but this time you don’t have to pay anything. In the roulette, get a Star and you’ll take the lower path to Boo. Get Bowser and you’re only three spaces away from visiting the Koopa King himself. Bowser has a roulette of his own. You can lose up to 20 coins or a Star. It’s brutal.
Happening Spaces on this board cause the volcano to erupt, swapping all Blue Spaces to Red Spaces for two turn durations. This start and ends on the turn of the player who activated the space. Not much beyond that! The Koopa Troopa handing out 10 coins at the start is here too.
What’s the story behind this board? You gotta officially beat Bowser who is hiding out at the top of the board. Collect those Stars and use them to dethrone him. And everyone gets to be part of the victory this time! No extra scene of the last place player failing.
To unlock this board, play through each of the six original boards at least once, then buy the board from the Mushroom Shop for 908 coins.

List of Events
Events spice up gameplay and (usually) give you a little more control over the strategy of the board. There are two types of events. Happening Events are those that activate when you land on a Happening Space. Passing Events are those that are triggered when you simply walk past the event rather than landing on it. Here’s what Bowser’s Magma Mountain has going on:
Passing Event
There are three junctions on this board guarded by molten heads. Pay them 10 coins to roll a roulette. Get the Star to use the shortcut or get Bowser to continue on the linear path.
Passing Event
There’s a purple molten head at the top of the board. Same deal, but there’s no 10 coin fee and you’re forced to participate in the roulette. Get a Star to take the path towards Boo or get Bowser to head towards Bowser just three spaces away.
Passing Event
The Roulette of Fate awaits! Get the Coin and Bowser will steal up to 20 coins for you. Get the Star and he’ll snatch a Star from you, no questions asked. If you don’t have a Star when you arrive, Bowser will take up to 20 coins from you automatically.

Item Availability
Unlike the rest of the Mario Party games that follow, the original does not have much of an item system. Instead, the Mushroom Bank lets you activate and deactivate certain items before you start a board. These items have features like typical Mario Party items, but they will only appear when they randomly activate at the start of a player’s turn. Two extra items let you disable specific passing events.
Available Items
All items are available in Bowser’s Magma Mountain.
