Cat Shines Guide – Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury Walkthrough

Follow our Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury Cat Shines guide and walkthrough as we detail all 100 Cat Shine locations.

Bowser’s Fury, a mode exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario 3D World, tasks Mario and Bowser Jr. to collect Cat Shines to ultimately defeat the massive Fury Bowser. It all takes place at Lake Lapcat, a vast open-world area filled with different island, each home to a different number of Cat Shines. Mario is free to roam around these areas as he collects Cat Shines and unlocks additional islands to explore. The Super Bell is the main power-up here and Plessie can be used to travel from island to island.

Your goal is to find and collect at least five different Cat Shines on each island. Collecting five will activate the lighthouse found on the island and clear the black goop of the Giga Bell at the center of the world. Grabbing the Giga Bell will transform you into Giga Cat Mario where you’ll fight one on onw with Fury Bowser. Defeating him push him back and unlock new islands to explore. Be aware, Bowser will occasionally rise from his goop while you’re out minding your business and you’ll have to dodge fireballs and fire streams until he settles down. You’ll know it’s about to happen when you see it start to rain.

There are 100 Chat Shines to collect in Bowser’s Fury. Three main areas make up the land of Lake Lapcat and contain 20 Cat Shines each. 60 Cat Shines are found in the three main areas, 5 extra Cat Shines appear whenever Bowser awakens, and the remaining 35 Cat Shines appear all throughout Lake Lapcat after you defeat Bowser for the final time. Hit the links below for details and images on how to collect each Cat Shine.
