Our Lake Lapcat Cat Shines guide details all 40 Cat Shines in the Lake Lapcat area in our Bowser’s Fury walkthrough.
Lake Lapcat consists of all three main areas. Scattered about these areas are additional Cat Shines that aren’t counted as part of the total of a specific island. A lot of these one-offs will only appear after a certain Cat Shine is collected or Fury Bowser is defeated a specific number of times. There’s also several Cat Shines that only appear post-game after the credits roll.

Lakeside Giga Bell Shines
Here are all the Lake Lapcat Cat Shines that appear in the Lakeside area.
Climb to the Shine
Between Fort Flaptrap and Pounce Bounce Isle is a small island with a Cat Shine above it. There’s a nearby Cat Wheel you can attack using Car Mario to raise the tower below the Cat Shine. Once all the way up, run over and climb the tower!
Lost Kitten by the Shore
A mama calico cat has appeared near the Giga Bell. She’s looking for her missing calico cat. Luckily the cat is on the other side of the massive bell! Grab the cat and bring it over to the mama to get your Cat Shine.
Hurry! Dash and Dive!
Use Plessie to reach the area to the right of Pounce Bounce Isle to find a Plessie ring. Ride into the waterfall and follow the gold rings, diving whenever you are about to run into the wooden walls with a portion lifted just above the water. Cat Shine at the end!
Shoreside Rabbit Plays Tag
Near the entrance to Scamper Shores is a small island with a big ol’ rabbit. Using Plessie, ride towards the rabbit and chase it across the water. Focus on following it and you’ll eventually catch up! If you have the room, dive under water and jump for an extra boost. Hit the rabbit to get your Cat Shine!
Toad Brigade: Lost Leader
Appears post-game. Find Captain Toad getting chased by a line of Cat Biddybuds on a small island near the entrance to Scamper Shores. Take out the enemies and Captain Toad will reward you with, you guessed it, a Cat Shine!
Pounce and Trounce in the Clouds
Appears post-game. A small island to the right of Scamper Shores has a bouncy mushroom that help you reach the cloud cannon above. Now in the bonus area, grab the star and start running through the level, jumping over gaps and using the mushroom springs to reach higher clouds. The Cat Shine will appear once you reach the end. Make sure to defeat all the Biddybuds or it won’t appear!
Plessie Medal Collector
Appears post-game. A small island to the right of Scamper Shores has a bouncy mushroom with a dock. Grab the Plessie Medal near the dock, then ride to Scamper Shores where Mario will have to jump and two Plessie Medals on his own. From there, jump down to the water where Plessie is conveniently waiting. Use Plessie to make a small jump on the shores of the Giga Bell area to get the next medal, then dash towards Bowser’s shell where the last medal waits. Grab the nearby Cat Shine that appears!
Plessie Medal Catcher
Appears post-game. Ride Plessie behind Fort Flaptrap to find a Plessie Medal. Collect it, then ride over to the Giga Bell island to get the next medal. The next few will take you all the way to the bottom of Slipskate Slope. Have Cat Mario handy so you can easily climb up walls! The Cat Shine will spawn in the water!
Ruins Giga Bell Shines
Here are all the Lake Lapcat Cat Shines that appear in the Ruins area.
Cold Cove Combat
At the base of Slipskate Slope is a purple switch. Hit it to activate a quick enemy arena including two Cat Piranha Plants, two Cat Goomba Towers, and two Cat Goombas. Defeat them all for your Cat Shine!
Gazing Down at the Islands
On Ruins Giga Bell island is a couple of Fury Blocks. Have Fury Bowser destroy them with his fire breath to reveal a clear pipe leading to a clear pipe cannon. Use it to reach a long path above. Looks daunting right? Not really! It’s a straight path to the island with that Cat Shine because there are invisible clouds you can run over between all the dash panels.
Hurry! Swim and Slide!
See that Plessie ring to the left of the Giga Bell? Hop on Plessie and swim through the ring to start up a timer and a path of rings leading over several ramps. Follow the straightforward path and make sure to jump over the Pounce Bounce Isle segment to reach the Cat Shine at the end.
Go with the Floe
Near Trickity Tower and Crisp Climb Castle is a lone Cat Shine floating above the water. You can try to use Plessie to get it by jumping off Plessie at the right time or… you can wait for the nearby ice steps to float underneath the Cat Shine. Get on top of the steps and wait for the Cat Shine to get into jumping range. The ice steps continuously from Crisp Climb Castle.
Dash and Smash in the Clouds
Near the Giga Bell is a small island with bell trees on it. Climb to the highest one, handstand at the top, and jump into the cloud cannon. Now in the bonus area, grab the star and start running through the level, jumping over gaps and collecting any additional stars. The Cat Shine will appear once you defeat all the enemies.
Slippery Skirmish
To the left of the Crisp Climb Castle entrance is a purple switch. Hit it to activate a quick enemy arena including two Cat Snow Pokeys and five Cat Cheep Cheep. For the Pokeys, try to get above them and ground pound to take out all their segments at once. For the Cheep Cheep, either swipe at them with Cat Mario or bounce on top of them. You can pick up the left behind snowballs and throw them at the Cheep Cheep. Defeat them all for your Cat Shine!
Lost Kitten near the Ruins
A mama calico cat has appeared near the Giga Bell. She’s looking for her three missing calico cats. The locations:
- Look for the first little guy on the shore of the Giga Bell island.
- Above the cat gate leading to Clawswipe Colosseum.
- Near the car gate near the entrance to Crisp Climb Castle. Once you grab this cat you can hop onto Plessie to have it ride with you!
Grab the cats and bring them over to the mama to get your Cat Shine.
Ruins Rabbit Plays Tag
To the right of Clawswipe Colosseum is a small island with a big ol’ rabbit. Using Plessie, ride towards the rabbit and chase it across the water. Focus on following it and you’ll eventually catch up! If you have the room, dive under water and jump for an extra boost. Hit the rabbit to get your Cat Shine!
Hurry! Slide through the Sky!
Between Trickity Tower and Crisp Climb Castle is a Plessie ring. Follow the path of gold ring coins, jumping at the end of all ramps to reach the next section. The Cat Shine is at the end of lifted platform, make sure to jump off both ramps!
Toad Brigade: Stuck Under the Slope
Appears post-game. Head over to Slipskate Slopes and grab a Propeller Block from the entrance area. Walk over to the spiked path and jump off the ledge. As you get near the bottom side of the platform, look for the Yellow Toad hanging out on a ledge. Reach him to get the Cat Shine!
Toad Brigade: Cuddly Castaway
Appears post-game. Go to the northern most portion of the map and grab onto the first twisted spring. Pull back and release to fling yourself to the next one. Do this until you reach the Green Toad on the island.
Plessie Medal Mania
Appears post-game. There’s a Plessie Medal near the dock at Trickity Tower. Hop on Plessie and grab it to have another one spawn near Trickity Tower. Collect that one, then grab the one that appears on the ice. From there, hop off Plessie and grab the one that appear up on the ledge. Now jump back onto Plessie and ride over to the new one on the water. Collecting this last one before the timer runs out wills pawn a Cat Shine in the distance.
Lake Rabbit Plays Tag
Appears post-game. Near Crisp Climb Castle is a small island with a big ol’ rabbit. Using Plessie, ride towards the rabbit and chase it across the water. Focus on following it and you’ll eventually catch up! If you have the room, dive under water and jump for an extra boost. Hit the rabbit to get your Cat Shine!
Wasteland Giga Bell Shines
Here are all the Lake Lapcat Cat Shines that appear in the Wasteland area.
Footprint Free-for-all
In the Giga Bell area is a purple switch. Hit it to activate a quick enemy arena including three Cat Goombas, three Cat Stingbies, and three Cat Hammer Bros. The POW Blocks on the edges can be used to take out the Hammer Bros. Defeat them all for your Cat Shine!
Hurry! Climb the Falls!
Look for a small island behind Pounce Bounce Isle. Hit the purple switch to have a series of platforms appear going up the waterfall. Instead of jumping around the Donut Blocks, simply come with Cat Mario and climb the three walls in front of you to reach the Cat Shine at the top!
On the Floodgate’s Edge
Look beyond Pipe Path Tower to see a long path leading to Fury Bowser’s dormant shell. Drop down to the platform from the island and run all the way to the end where a Cat Shine waits. Hopefully the Fury Blocks haven’t been destroyed otherwise you’ll have to jump over several gaps.
Gazing Over the Falls
There’s a stack of Fury Blocks on Giga Bell island. After you allow Bowser to destroy them by standing near it when he spits out a stream of fire, a clear pipe cannon will appear. Up in the clouds, grab onto the twisted spring and pull back and release to fling yourself to the next one. Do this until you reach the island with the Cat Shine.
Surprise Prizefight
Near Mount Magemeow is a small island with a purple switch. Hit it to activate a quick enemy arena including two Cat Goomba Towers, three Cat Goombas, one Cat Spike, and one Cat Coin Coffer. The Spike can actually take out a lot of the Goombas on his own. An invisible Coin Coffer hides between the yellow blocks on the right. Defeat them all for your Cat Shine!
Jump and Thump in the Clouds
Look for an island with a ton of wooden crates on it. Break through the center to discover a giant red spring. Use it to reach the cloud cannon above! Now in the bonus area, grab the star and start running through the level, jumping over gaps and using the red spring to hop over to the next set of clouds. The Cat Shine will appear once you reach the end.
Shining on a Hidden Isle
Near Roiling Rolling Isle is a section of water the cuts into the black goop. While riding Plessie, head towards this spot and dive before jump to go over the black goop, through the gold rings, and onto a small area with the Cat Shine.
Spin, Scramble, Shine
Near the Giga Bell is a Cat Wheel. Using Cat Mario, swipe at it to raise the tower in the distance. Jump and climb up the rock towers before it to reach the tower with the Cat Shine at the top before the timer runs out.
Hurry! Slip to the Shine!
The dock near Pipe Path Tower has a Plessie Ring in front of it. Swim through it with Plessie and ride up the ramp. Whenever you go up these ramps, remember to jump at the end. Cat Shine is at the end of a narrow path.
Lost Kittens in the Wasteland
A mama calico cat has appeared near the Giga Bell. She’s looking for her five missing calico cats. The locations:
- First cat is hanging around the area with other cats in the Giga Bell area.
- Look where the Giga Bell is facing and walk forward. Drop off the ledge to find a long path with the cat at the end.
- Near the entrance gate to Pipe Path Tower. Hop onto Plessie while holding the cat to bring it with you!
- Drop below the entrance to Risky Whisker Island to find a hole at the base of the wall. Grab the cat, then hop on top of the two blocks on the right. Jump up to discover a hidden block and keep doing this until you reach the top.
- Ride Plessie to Mount Magmeow and ride underneath the clear pipe leading to the area with the lighthouse. Grab the cat by the tower and use the green switchboards nearby to reach Giga Bell island.
Grab the cats and bring them over to the mama to get your Cat Shine.
Wasteland Rabbit Plays Tag
Near Mount Magmeow is a small island with a big ol’ rabbit. Using Plessie, ride towards the rabbit and chase it across the water. Focus on following it and you’ll eventually catch up! If you have the room, dive under water and jump for an extra boost. Hit the rabbit to get your Cat Shine!
Gazing Down at Lava
Reach the second smaller peak at the top of Mount Magmeow and a floating island will eventually appear. Using Cat Mario, climb up the wall to find a Cat Shine at the top.
Toad Brigade: Hot Pursuit
Appears post-game. Reach the top area of Mount Magmeow and head for the smaller peak. Instead of climbing up it, look beyond the ledge to see an area where Blue Toad is getting harassed by a Cat Conkdor. Take it out to get your Cat Shine.
Plessie Medal Hunter
Appears post-game. From Roiling Roller Isle, go to the small dock and hop on Plessie. Grab the Plessie Medal to have another one appear in the distance. Grab that one, then hop onto the long dock of Giga Bell island and jump off Plessie to use the red spring to reach the medal. The next medal will appear elsewhere on the island. Once you grab that medal, jump down to Plessie and dash towards the next one. This final medal will make a Cat Shine appear in the distance.
Lucky Cat Shines
These special Cat Shines only appear post-game and during one of Fury Bowser’s awakenings. A special golden platform will drop down in a specific location and offer a Cat Shine to collect! Look below for all five locations.
First Lucky Shine
From the entrance of Pounce Bounce Isle, go up the first red spring to the area with a single brick block. There you’ll see the golden island.
Second Lucky Shine
Head to the entrance of Slipskate Slopes. The golden island will appear to the left of the cat gate.
Third Lucky Shine
At Crisp Climb Castle, grab a Propeller Block and make your way up the first tower. From there, spin your way over to the golden island.
Fourth Lucky Shine
Remember that long path connected to Pipe Path Tower? Hop on Plessie and ride around this area and you’ll see the golden island nearby. You’ll have to ride Plessie off a ramp to reach it.
Fifth Lucky Shine
At Roiling Roller Isle, go up the first green rolling platform and the golden island will appear to your left. Grab the Super Leaf from the ? Block above the golden shard to make it over there.
