I hated the lack of boards, the lack of characters, the fact that they brought back Mario Party 3 and 4's Story Mode, the amount of bland mini-games, the lack of unique spaces and the tutorial which was extremely less detailed than the other Mario Party tutorials.

Pretty much my opinion. The lack of characters was a pretty big disappointment for me. Mario Party is known for their colorful cast of characters.

I hated the fact that when using Random on the Friend Space, it always selects the player in last place.
Also think that star hexes come up too often, especially the -2.

Overall, I thought the game was WAY too easy when playing against CPUs, buying 3 star pipes from the shop was easy and made winning almost inevitable.

Only 5 boards. Only 8 characters. WAYYYYY too many chance minigames. Getting stars is too easy. Boards are too short. Graphics are s***. Creators got lazy and made 4p, 2v2, Battle, and Duel minigames the same. Too many button spamming minigames. Only 5 voice effects per character. AI is awful.

BOARD MAPS:

Wiggler's Garden:
1.  Two consecutive Bowser spaces in a row

Toadette's Music Room:
1. Those metronome star changer things
2. Two consecutive Hammer Bro drum thingies
3. The piano mini-game gives jack shit, coin-wise

DK's Stone Statue:
1. Dry Bones isn't useful in the slightest
2. Landing on a (?) sends a barrel flying your way. 10 coin loss for anyone on that stretch (considering there's 3 stretches and (?)s on 2 of them, that's a bit harsh

Kamek's Library:
1. It seems very uninspired as a whole, and honestly it's pretty worthless
2. Landing on that Kamek thing can get rid of all your items and replace them with 1-5 Dice Blocks

Bowser's Pinball Machine:
1. The Bowser Zone is so god damned cheap. If you land on the (?) you're most likely to lose ALL YOUR COINS AND STARS. That's absolutely ridiculous.
2. That roulette mini-game is horribly rigged

SPACES:

1. Hitting "Random" on a Friend space ALWAYS gives coins to last place. In addition, the CPUs *always* give coins to last place regardless of circumstances
2. Duel spaces only appear within the last 5 turns
3. There are no "pass this to activate it" hexes

MINI-GAMES:

1. Battle mini-games should appear slightly more often. In addition, Certain mini-games should be Battle:

Get the Lead Out
Parachutin' Gallery
Cheep Cheep Chance
Call of the Goomba

^ there we go, no complaints from anyone.

2. There are virtually no original Duel mini-games.

In all though, I love love LOVE Mario Party DS. One of the very best games in the franchise IMO.

I mostly think the story and other aspects of it were a little cheesy. (friendly spaces? Really?)
There weren't enough boards or characters.
The minigames are either too easy, or impossible.
I also hate how Daisy and Yoshi's team name in a tag battle is "Cutie Pies". I often play as them when I do a tag battle and... Any name sounds intimidating compared to Cutie Pies. 8P
I wish Dry Bones was playable, not a boss. Same with other characters you barely see in this game.
Hammer Bro and Dry Bones were so easy to defeat. >.<

continuation/expandation on my last post: ALMOST EVERYTHING

There are only 5 party boards and there is not much to do. Also there are only 8 characters. In Party mode the boards are extremely small and getting coins is spammed and way too easy. I always end up getting like 10 stars and 200 coins. The shop system was just stupid. I mean 3 coins for a mushroom? Really? 7 coins golden and FIFTEEN COINS FOR A WIGGLER?? They were pretty much halved priced from the other mario party items. lol no wonder getting high amounts of coins was so easy. You can even by the same thing over and over. IMO it should be like the GCN Mario Parties where you're given 3 items and can choose ONE of them.

The whole thing was way too luck based; too many luck minigames.  The AI is terrible. In Party mode they would buy nothing but snag bags. They also don't strategize or think properly. In button spamming minigames they are impossible to beat over the difficulty of normal. Also they butchered puzzle mode. It was totally pointless and the physics are awful.

You would think that they would get this sort of thing right after failing miserably with Mario Party Advance. Speaking of which, where is the Mario Party Advance board and can we make a "What did you hate about MPA thread?"

Well, i hated that minigames like get the lead out were impossible to win if the AI level was higher than normal. The boards were okay, but they were small and the item system was terrible.I also didnt like it because it didnt let us see cpu events/minigames/duels etc... Besides that, the game wasnt that bad.

1. There is no announcer. Whistle isn't just as cool as an announcer!
2. I hate Feed and Seed, Trace Cadets, and Get the Lead Out.
3. There are only 5 boards!
4. Double Dice set for 3 coins? Star pipe for 15 coins? Wow, it is too cheap.
5. There are no original Duel Minigames.

That makes MPDS my least Mario Party Games, excluding Mario Party Advance.
