I looked at Luma Party's beta elements and noticed that Bowser Jr. was planned to be playable in Mario Party 9. Could Bowser Jr. therefore be a contender to be playable in Mario Party 3DS?

Like i had idea on my mind, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario and ewll maybe Waluigi and Daisy will appear, I hope Rosalina appear too.

As I saw all of the characters in the Nintendo Direct video, I've questioned the game at BTE: "Where's Yoshi?" Also, SuperZambezi's list reminded me about Waluigi, that I think he will be in it too, but this is under determination as this game is still under development. Will this be the game that we see new playable characters (Luma, etc.)? There's a 50/50 chance...
It could be that some of the characters e.g. Luma could be added via QR code. The absence of Yoshi slightly strengthens my point. Why show-case one Yoshi when you can show a rainbow of them in the next trailer? xP

Seeing how Nabbit has become a playable character in New Super Luigi U, I wonder if he has a shot of joining this game?
I highly doubt Nabbit would be in Mario Party 3DS. I don't really see how he could have a role in there. I think he's pretty much like a one-time character for New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U.Chalphy said:

Doubtful in MP3DS, but I can see Nabbit becoming playable in the possible future.
If we're realistic, there won't be more than 10, 11 playable characters with a possibly plane roster...
