I'm bying this for sure! All characters from Mario Party DS are returning 100%, but I know it won't have only 8 characters, 10 at least, and I hope one of them is Toadette. As long as she makes in, I don't care who else is added or cut

They wouldn't return Toadette especially in a handheld Mario Party.

I personally think they are going to use everyone that was in Mario Party 9 and just replace Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, and Kamek with different characters (Metal Mario? Toadette? Goomba?). From the trailer, that seems true to me and of course I wouldn't mind who joins the party as long as they are from the Mario series.

They might drop Birdo because so many dislike her. I don't see why, Birdo is a good character but I prefer Daisy and Toadette as female characters.

I would guess MP3DS would have 10 characters total. MPDS had 8, MP9 had 12, and since handhelds typically have less than the console versions, I would go with 10. So with that it mind, only four characters (assuming there are no newcomers) return from the characters that remain. Let's start by taking Yoshi and Waluigi off the list. They are almost guaranteed to be in. That would make a list of eight characters, meaning two remain:

And this is the list that remains:

So who can we immediately take out? DK has not been playable for years, so it is safe to take him off the list. Koopa Kid was created for the MP series and he hasn't appeared since MP7, so he is out. Dry Bones, Blooper, and Hammer Bro. show up as icons in a minigame, so I will count that as nonplayable. Both Koopa and Shy Guy appear as NPCs on the side in the kart racing minigame, making a strong case that they are not returning. This leaves us with four characters:

Boo
Toadette
Birdo
Kamek/Magikoopa

So if only two characters will complete the roster, I would place my bets on Birdo and Kamek/Magikoopa. If you haven't noticed, MP3DS borrows many elements from MP9, from sounds to general style. NdCube already has the models done for these characters, so I don't see why they would not take the opportunity to reuse them. So if this is the case, the final roster would be:

I agree with everything you've said SZ, but I'm very confident that there WILL be a completely new character to the series, one that has never been playable in Mario Party before. The roster would be too predictable otherwise (like you've shown) and Nintendo don't like being predictable.

I'm hoping that Boo and Toadette return to make the roster 10 people. I wouldn't mind seeing a new character, but it's best to keep it with those who has been playable for the handhelds.

So it's can't be a fact, to be honest.

Anyway, new idea; If there's Wi-fi I assume Mii's will be playable; but if there's no Wi-fi, there probably won't be Mii's.

Nice list, SuperZambezi. I have no doubt that this will be the roster in Mario Party 3DS. If they go with two additional characters, one should be a character that hasn't been playable in the Mario Party series in along time such as Donkey Kong, Boo, Koopa Kid, or Toadette. The other should be completely new to the Mario Party series. They always seem to introduce someone new since Mario Party 6. I'll say the new one could be a Red Paratroopa or King Boo.
