Secrets and Unlockables – Paper Mario: Sticker Star Guide

See every unlockable and every secret in the Nintendo 3DS entry with our Paper Mario: Sticker Star walkthrough and guide.

Outside the main levels, Sticker Star doesn’t have too much going on when it comes to secrets, at least compared to other games in the series. The primary unlockables involve collecting every sticker in the Sticker Museum and finishing all eight Super Flag objectives.

Sticker Museum Unlockbales

Did you know there’s an entire museum underneath Decalburg? It houses every single sticker you’ve collected in your journey so far, including Thing stickers. There’s a few unlockables with collecting them all too.

How to Unlock the Sticker Museum

Head into Decalburg after you’ve cleared the events of the prologue and gained the Paperize ability. Stand in front of the fountain and use Paperize to peel it off the world. There’s a green Toad back there! Pluck him out of the void and speak to him. He’ll run off into the nearby house with the blue roof, but before you follow him, place the fountain back into its original place. Head inside the house and speak to the green Toad to find that he’s the curator of the Sticker Museum. Follow him down the stairs and through the grand doors to find the lofty museum.

Museum Completion and Unlockables

Each entryway in the red and blue sections of the main room lead to hallways where a handful of stickers are displayed, provided you’ve collected them out in the wild at one point. The right side houses all 96 regular stickers, while the left side showcases all 64 Thing stickers. If you’re looking for a list of stickers and their locations, check out our guides for each:

Completing an entire side of the museum will unlock a new room at the top of the stairs. Finding all 96 regular stickers unlocks an enemy gallery where you can pay a single coin to view an enemy dioramas that show of attack patterns. Finding all 64 Thing stickers will unlock the music gallery where you can listen to 29 music tracks from the game.

Super Flag Requirements

After completing World 1, the Sticker Fest plaza will put in place eight flags. To raise each banner, you’ll need to complete specific requirements. These achievements are primarily achieved during your post game play, but some can be completed earlier if you play enough.

Heartthrob

Collect all HP-Up Hearts.

We’ve got an HP-Up Hearts Locations guide just for this! Images included.

Honorary Curator

Collect all 160 stickers.

We’ve got a rundown of every sticker too. Both regular and Thing stickers.

Covert Doorman

Open all 35 Secret Doors.

Surprise! We’ve got a Secret Doors Locations guide too. Most of these Secret Doors get you a new Thing, so you’ll finish the Cover Doorman flag before the Honorary Curator flag.

Comet Repairman

Collect all 38 Comet Pieces.

Completing every non-boss level will get you a Comet Piece. Some levels have secret exits, and these are used by grabbing a second Comet Piece in the level. The levels include:

  • Water’s Edge Way to Whammino Mountain
  • Sandshifter Ruins to Damp Oasis
  • Strike Lake to Holey Thicket
  • Loop Loop River to The Bafflewood
  • Holey Thicket to Whitecap Beach
  • Snow Rise to Whiteout Valley
  • Long Fall Falls to Chomp Ruins

Super Shopper

Spend 10,000 coins in shops run by Toads.

Makes sure you’re spending cash all throughout the game. You’re going to be purchasing over 30 Secret Door stickers at 80 coins each, so a decent chunk of the 10,000 will come form this.

Looking for more coins? There’s a great grinding spot in World 4-1: Snow Rise where you can find a Sparkly Goomba right at the start of the battle. The shiny enemy will summon four additional Goombas, and if you can take them all out at once using a Shiny Shell or a Shiny Ice Flower, you’ll get aroudn 40 coins for the Perfect Bonus and around another 40 coins once you return. Exit the level, return, and repeat as many times as you need. There’s a Shiny Ice Flower in the Question Block at the start that you can get each time too.

Speed Star

Get a Perfect Bonus in 500 battles or more.

A Perfect Bonus means killing all the enemies in battle on your first turn. If you’re reading this early enough, try not to skip battles throughout the game. You’ll have to start doing them afterwards if not. The coin grinding method in World 4-1 we shared for the coin Super Flag is another great place to grind Perfect Bonuses.

Mr. Excellent

Perform 1,000 Excellent action commands in battle.

Timing your A presses during specific moments of your attack will grant you an Excellent bonus that ups your attack. We’re going to recommend that World 4-1 spot with the Shiny Goombas again. You can get three excellent in your first only turn this way.

Spin Doctor

Match three symbols in the Battle Spinner 50 times or more.

Once you’re loaded with cash, start paying for the feature that locks in the first two slots.

Hidden Luigi Spots

Luigi doesn’t have a role in the game’s story, but he’s still hanging around! And very subtly. Luigi appears five times throughout the game, and you can snag him from the level by using Paperize to yank him out. Finding Luigi five times will have him added to the game’s character parade during the credits.

Use our Luigi Locations guide for a list of all five hiding spots, complete with images. And here’s a quick list of the levels he’s in:

  • World 1-6: Goomba Fortress
  • World 2-5: Drybake Stadium
  • World 3-12: Whitecap Beach
  • World 4-5: Whiteout Valley
  • World 5-5: Rugged Road

Flower Circles and Upgrade Spots

You ever spot a ring of pink flowers that suspiciously don’t give out any reward for flipping them over? If you enter Paperize mode, you’ll see there’s a spot to place something above the ring.

This is an upgrade spot! Paste on of your existing stickers and have it turn into a Question Block upon returning to the normal world. Inside you’ll find an upgraded version of your sticker, assuming an upgraded version of the sticker you placed exists. For example, throwing in a Shiny Jump sticker will get you a Flashy Jump sticker.

In World 5-1 – Shy Guy Jungle, follow the path to the left of the Comet Piece to find a room with four tree stumps. Paperize mode will reveal four upgrade spots in this spot, so don’t miss ’em!

Wiggler Diaries

Throughout World 3 are Wiggler Segments that’ll accompany you through a level. Interestingly, you can even take the Wiggler Segment out of the level and have it follow you to another. If you bring a Wiggler Segment to a key location, a new page in Wiggler’s Diary over in Wiggler’s Tree House will be added.

The key locations include:

  • World 3-2: The Bafflewood – Head to the area before the Comet Piece. Look on the left side to see a lone dandelion. Run through it and have the Wiggler Segment react.
  • World 3-6: Outlook Point – Walk over to the left of the shop and have the Wiggler Segment take in the view of the poison island.
  • World 3-8: Tree Branch Trail – Enter the second area and look for a hot spring covered in mist. The Wiggler Segment will take a dip but get angry at the poison.
  • World 3-10: Stump Glade – Replay Sniffit or Whiffit. You don’t have to replay the bonus segment.
  • Surfshine Harbor – Walk over to the second section of the harbor to find the Wiggler Segment getting into a fight with a blue Toad near a boat.

You can find the diary on the third floor of Wiggler’s Tree House in World 3-3. Access it by going to the left of the massive tree and riding the branch up to the third floor.

Your last chance to hang with a Wiggler Segment is before you finish World 3-11! If you complete the world without having a Wiggler Segment experience a part of the level an write about it in his diary, you will be permanently locked out from seeing these new pages! The diary isn’t required for any achievements or unlockables, but it
