Why do people prefer Microsoft and Sony over Nintendo?

Ever since the release of the Gamecube, Nintendo has just been stupid in their decisions to stay "traditional" with their consoles and not add any new enhancing technology or hardware to make their consoles up to date and ready to compete with Microsoft or Sony. Both of those companies have moved forward with these advancements while Nintendo idiotically wagered that audiences will still enjoy the Wii without the new "fancy-pants" stuff like Blu Ray, Gamertags, and DLC. The only audience the Wii captured was the preppy soccer moms who decided to get their kids a Wii simply because of the "exercise" gimmick and the fact that the Wii only has ONE rated M game in their entire library (MadWorld). The core gamers who want something other than a game like "How To Change Your Babies' Diaper" or "Train Your Puppy Wii!!!" look towards Sony and Microsoft for exciting games such as LittleBigPlanet or Soul Calibur. Also, Nintendo just doesn't pay attention to any of their franchises anymore except for Mario.

Kirby and Zelda...hmm...
As much as I love Zelda serie, the last games haven't been that awesome. Skyward Sword was awesome, but far from being as cool as TP, WW, OoT and MM imo. Dunno bout' Kirby. Also, it's only three series and even there, they're main focus will always be Mario. Just look at this year, two NSMB and many others. Tell me when was the last time we got more than 2 Zelda game a year or Kirby game.

Zelda and Kirby both only have two games for the Wii. Epic Yarn wasn't even supposed to be a Kirby game. They just slapped Kirby's name into the title so that the game would sell better. Mario has gotten Super Mario Galaxy 1-2, Super Paper Mario, NSMBWii, THREE Mario and Sonic games, Mario Sports Mix, two Mario Parties, Mario Kart Wii, and the Mario Power Tennis Wii remake. All of that time could have been put into a Pikmin, F-Zero, Earthbound, Donkey Kong (besides the ONE GAME), Yoshi, Star Fox, or Metroid game (Metroid had THREE games for the Gamecube for petes sake). So you can't sit there and rightfully say that Nintendo catered their IPs well enough in the Wii generation.

I know that they mainly have Mario games, I was just saying they did have multiple games in some of their other franchises for Wii. But they know for a fact Mario sells best, so it's gonna be that way for quite a while. I'd also like to see more new IPs for Wii U.(so far they only have Project P-100), although I know most of the time they have with the Wii U will be spent with Mario, just because it sells well and they're greedy. :p

Here's MY opinion:

Once upon a time:

Sony is an excellent company, creating some of the best hardware ever. However, 1st party games by them aren't great.

The End.

It's the games that matter, not the console.

That's only 3 franchises. Sony has like 10+ that work and sell a lot.
There's also Pokémon. :p
Metroid sells a lot depending on your definition of a lot. :p

I can name about 5 best sellers from Ninty.

Pokemon did not do great on the Wii. Shit, the handhelds do hundred times better. Other M was only one game. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, Metroid had three games for the Gamecube.

MP2 remake counts since I counted the Mario spin-offs. And why are you ignoring the big picture? All I am saying is that the Wii did not service the other franchises well and you just listed Kirby and Zelda. My point has been proven since even you admitted that Nintendo services Mario way too much.

Besides IPs, the core audience that the Wii serviced was families and not individual gamers. Big mistake considering our parents, or the previous social generation, don't even know how to conform to that kind of culture. It just makes the Wii look lame.
