Why do people prefer Microsoft and Sony over Nintendo?

I just can't stand the other games. Believe me, I've tried.

Play a 1st party SNES game and then play a 1st party Wii game

It's true though that the number of solid IPs in Nintendo's gameplay is low and in some cases feels like dead horse flogging

Dude, just play Super Mario All Stars on the SNES, then play the games in the NSMB series. Compare afterwards. I highly guess that you'll enjoy All Stars and be heavily disappointed at the new ones.

After the gamecube nintendo just didn't seem as great as they used to be to me. Sure there were a few good games but does that really warrant buying a 250 dollar system that i hardly play.

Just stating my opinions.
I prefer to play a Wii game then a Microsoft game. I do enjoy some of what PS3 has to offer,
but I've always loved Nintendo games. I don't mind people who don't enjoy Nintendo games as much though.
