Why do people prefer Microsoft and Sony over Nintendo?

If a games main mechanic is multiplayer they should make the game solely for multiplayer, you know so that they can make a good multiplayer in the game. It's kind of dumb to have a lame single player just to say that there is one, and vice versa.
 
I actually find the recent games really disappointing. NSMBW was fun for a little while, but i got bored pretty damn fast and spent the rest of the evening playing other games. I can say that although it wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, it felt kind of vapid in comparison to Super Mario 3, (one of my favourite games released) and i think it's because Nintendo is so anal about their family-friendly image it gets to the point where, while Sony and Microsoft are advancing forward with their technology and are paying attention to a more mature market, Nintendo still panders to children and thus there's an onslaught of "Imagine Babyz", among other shovelware crap, on their system, and i'm getting mighty tired of seeing all these New SMB remakes everywhere. I'd rather they shape up, pull their heads out of the 80s and actually focus on what their nostalgic fanbase wants instead of rehashing the same thing over, and over, and over again.
That's my thoughts on this whole dealio at any rate.
 
My point for liking Xbox is the fact that majority of the games require an actual controller, the Wii's motion control is not at the stage it should have been at when released and I seriously feel the motion plus falters similarly. However, that is not to say I do not enjoy the Wii. But it is certainly liked more than the PS3 in my book.

However, while I find the simple mechanic of controller to hand better than motion control, I do like Nintendo's IP's better in comparison

F-Zero > Joy Ride
Mario Party > Fuzion Frenzy
Nintendogs > Kinectimals

The only IPs that I remotely hate that isn't Nintendo is CoD, Halo, and Gears of War. All the rest, including God of War, LittleBigPlanet, and Assassin's Creed, are okay to some degree.
 
That's different though. He's a fan of a GAME. These people are basing their illogical opinions on an entire company.
