Super Mario 3D Land

Honestly, the only free-roaming Mario games are Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Nintendo likes to stick with platforming and linear gameplay because that's what a lot of Mario fans have grown used to. They leave the free-roaming environments for Zelda.

Well, that sucks... SM64 was great, impressive. Sunshine wasn't as good, but it still was an okay game. All the new linear Mario games haven't been that impressive, SMG, SMG2 and both Mario Bros... Since this will be linear, I don't think it will be better than SM64, the videos didn't convince. As Hunt said, it looks more like a mix between Bros and Galaxy...

I just don't like how they keep on rehashing the same old crap introduced in SMG. They need to try something different to keep players hooked.

Galaxy was a great game for what it was worth but I always loved the free-roaming you could do in Mario Sunshine more. You know the stuff that actually made you have to think about what to do. Galaxy is great but they giftwrap everything for you.
This

I don't really like the time limit that I saw in a demo. Other than that, the game looks fine.
I hope not all levels have a time limit, but if they do, there wouldn't be as much time as we can have to collect everything in a level.

I don't like having a time limit for a 3D platforming Mario game since there was NEVER a time limit for them(Both SMGs, SM64, and SMS). I understand it's a handheld and everything but it'd be better if you could take your time in levels instead of being rushed. I guess the only reason you get to keep your power-ups is because there's a stupid timer for the levels. :p No more free-roaming is a small downer but I can live with it lol. I just hope the levels will be huge and fun but the timer makes my hopes very minuscule...

The levels are probably smaller than that of SMG.

If they do something stupid like that, they MUST have double the levels.

Super Mario 3D Land.....huh?. They should have named it something like Super Mario Bros 3D. It makes sense that way because they are taking aspects of SMB3, and it's in 3D.

And why would this game be out before Mario Kart 7? SM3DL (sounds weird) wasn't officially revealed until GDC earlier this year, and MK7 was revealed last year. Nintendo is confusing me too much.
