She could possibly be waiting in the background, waiting for someone to trigger an event involving her by some some type of space (happening space?). Perhaps she might have her own space, at least on the space board.

If I remember correctly the last two spaces before goal were green Happening Spaces, so I guess that is a real possibility. I might need to rewatch those few seconds though just in case.

I personally wouldn't find that feature bad, it makes it less luck-based.

Anyway, Rosalina's appearance could mean 3 things:
1) She's a host (quite likely)
2) She's a playable character
3) It really is just a cameo (but I'm not sure why Nintendo would go to the effort of making her if she has no purpose, unless it's a clue she will appear in future games?)

I highly doubt a playable character would be a side character like that, so I definitely don't think she's playing. But I do think she could be like a cameo of the galaxy board (because it's her observatory), or maybe a host of one board, which is more likely than anything.

Come to think of it, it seems that while Rosalina could be the host of that Space board, it seems that Yellow Toad (image H-J put up) is the host of that board, Grasslands. I wonder if this means we have a host for each different board, just like Mario Party 4 was. Would be awesome if they're bringing that part back.

1.I was thinking that Rosalina was the host of the space board. However Luma is holding the flag at the end.
2.Unlikely.
3.A cameo is better then nothing.
The different host thing is likely true. However we don't know who could host the Clift board right now.

I would love it if there was multiple hosts as well. It sounds fun guessing who the others might be. I'm going to make a list of who I'd like to see as hosts for Mario Party 3DS:

1st Board- Yellow Toad
2nd Board- Rosalina/Luma
3rd Board- Blue Toad
4th Board- Tumble!
5th Board- Toadette or Toadsworth
6th Board- Professor E.Gadd
7th Board- Koopa Kid (Mini-Bowser)

Very unlikely but i think E.Gadd has a good chance due to his recent appearance in Dark Moon. Assuming there is going to be multiple hosts that is. I think they should make entirely new hosts if they aren't going with old ones or characters who haven't hosted yet.

I'm sure Tumble can host almost any board possible, a basic one like the grasslands would suit him best. In Mario Party 3, Tumble along with Millennium Star hosted a variety of boards such as Chilly Waters and Creepy Cavern. He also returned in Mario Party Advance where he hosted Shroom City, it has various areas such as the Horror area and Town Area. Tumble hosted the entire city as the main mode of the game (Shroom City). I think Tumble could host any board in this Mario Party besides a Bowser Themed one.

I love the idea of a Thwomp and/or a Whomphosting the cliff board. it suits them and they hosted the Extras Mode in Mario Party 4. A Star or Z-tar could also host fine. A star spoke in Mario Party Advance so it could work.

I've got a feeling if they do have multiple hosts, it might be all colored Toads, their recent appearance in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon makes it likely. As much as I like Toads, They hosted enough boards and could host the mini-game modes or other modes. Some other hosts deserve some spotlight.

For Mario Party Advance, it's likely his appearance was a one-off as he hasn't been seen since 2005. Also what's to say Tumble will be the host of a map over other characters like Toadsworth? I have nothing against Tumble but he's not going to return in Mario Party 3ds, but there is a small possibility in Mario Party U.

As for the the coloured toads; they already hosted Mario Party 9 and I only saw them in the toad village so it's unlikely they'll host the entire game.

I really hope that this Mario Party game finally features online play...

Yes! If that happens Mario Party 3DS will already be favourite party game before I've even played it.

I meant Tumble can host any board minus Bowser themed ones even with multiple hosts hosting the other boards, he fits almost any style. It was sort of the case in Mario Party Advance but others hosted the other modes instead of boards. But I know his chances of ever appearing are always going to be slim. Toadsworth and E.Gadd seem to be the most likely to return as hosts.

Yeah, I really wish that the game can be played online, it would be so great to play Mario Party with other players.

I think the developers have no interest in adding internet connection because there was chances with DS,8, and 9. Mini-game mode would do just fine though with friends. I don't really care if they go for internet or not, it doesn't influence my decision on getting this game.

I always thought there was some sort of invisible host in Mario Party DS. Someone has to give those ten coins out, I think Mario Party can function without a host. It was kind of boring not being able to see a visible host in DS. Mario Party 3DS seems to be going for a visible host again. Now that I think of it, the plot in Mario Party DS explains not being able to see this host if any.

Well that doesn't mean it has to be a person that give these coins... but yeah, there wasn't any sort of host on this game, as far as I know. Most of these stuffs was only some text I think but that's it, no particuliar host. (I only played a few times but at least it's what I noticed.)
