So you're saying that the Hammer, one of the most valuable and well-known Mario weapons, should be scrapped just because it is associated too much with DK? I really just don't understand your logic. DK and Mario are basically the same franchises intertwined. Mario vs. Donkey Kong had Peach's Castle, Shy Guys, Kremlings, etc. Your reasoning for not including the DK characters just because "oh well the franchises split" is beyond retarded.

So tell me, if they are basically "the same franchises intertwined", why hasn't any of the characters other than DK been part of Mario vs DK? By your logic, your telling me that because Mario has a game related to DK, all DK characters have a free pass into Mario's game?

Let's try to get this topic back on track, shall we?  This is getting out of hand...

I think that penguins should be playable as they have a certain charm to them and better than clones like Dry Bowser, Metal Mario and Super Dry Metal Toad...

Sorry I'll get back on topic now. :)
Penguins deserve a place just as much as any other character. :p

I didn't know Nintendo had a policy that followed your illogical reasoning. Perhaps if you read my post earlier (which listed many Mario elements in Mario vs DK) you would understand, but nope, you just decide to act like a tool and ignore me. Fine. I'm honestly done trying. I should know better than to argue with 90% of MPL's members since they aren't seasoned enough yet to know how to debate. Whatever. Done.

Is it bad to say that I love reading your posts?  lol

Anyways, for the Penguins - I'd say no.  Cute, yes.  However, I want to see Toadette return as playable before more of these background characters come in as playable characters.

No, there are better characters out there, so why waste a spot?
Yes but Nintendo always changes the roster by adding different characters. Even though he may not be the best character, why not give him a chance?

He's also more deserving than characters like Honey Queen. :p

Reminded me of Club Penguin.
I could there could be something better than penguin, penguins should just be Npcs.

Which characters did you have in mind?

NO! We have enough useless characters in Nintendo games now it ridiculous. Like we DON'T need two Bowsers, or baby versions of EVERY character, or heck even generic enemies.  If anything I would want Nintendo to strip the games rosters down back to the main characters of spin-offs just so I don't have to rip my eyes out at each "new" character being so lame.

Lol, useless characters will always be added to the roster.

I'll be interested to see what the roster is in Mario Kart 8. Probably even more useless characters will be added and replace a lot of the original ones.

I hope Nintendo gets rid of 2 babies, Funky Kong, Dry Bowser, Waluigi and Birdo and I'll be more than happy.

Waluigi and Birdo will never be removed from spin-offs they are main spin-off characters. Unless Nintendo acts stupid again and doesn't include either in MK8. With the way things are going Nintendo will probably even take out Luigi and Peach after a while so they can make room for more babies and stupid characters like a Thwomp. -_- I REALLY hate Nintendo right now.

Mario Kart 7. :p

If they have been removed once, they're likely they will be removed again. Look what happened to Toadette.

I mentioned MK7, but MK7 seven had a terrible roster. It's not likely, Toadette was just in to make sure Toad had a partner and now that partners aren't really needed she no longer appears.

Seriously? Who the hell cares? If this was a fighting game like Mortal Kombat where all the characters are given full-fledged backstories and interesting personas and powers, then yeah, this would be a legit discussion. But we are talking about MARIO characters here. The most vague and one dimensional characters in the history of video games. You guys are basically arguing over characters who contribute almost nothing to the franchise and are only placed in the games for fan service. Just saying.

There are other games with even vaguer and one dimensional characters.

The only one other major gaming franchise I can think of that has bland characters is the Kirby series. The rest either have some sort of flowing storyline that seams together some interesting character choices. Even the Donkey Kong franchise has a lot of characters that are interesting. Funky is....well, funky, Dixie is an adventurous tom boy, Lanky is a clown, K. Rool is a master of disguises and egos, etc. The Mario cast just doesn't have that diverse personas that other gaming series do.

They aren't all that bland as character, I mean each has their own personality. I think they need to go the Strikers rout with the characters since they seemed more "alive" in the Strikers game than anywhere else.

All we know about the Mario brothers is that they fell into their toilets, landed into the Mushroom Kingdom, saved the Princess from an evil Koopa named Bowser, and that's pretty much it. And all of the other supporting characters that Mario encounters are just there. No origin stories, no unique personalities, not a great way to argue over which "characters are better" because none of them truly shine as groundbreaking characters.
