well exuuuse me princess :p

With backwards compatibility for GCN: As long as it plays Wii games, which it will, duh, it can play GCN games, due to extremely similar coding or something. That's what I've read at least.

This is the most comprehensive summary of all rumors that have been circulating since Wednesday if you want to know about them.

Tsk, all I see in this topic is people's idea of a perfect Nintendo console and people stating it will have several obvious features like HD. This is why I hate rumors. :p

I never meant for that to happen MLYW. Lol. Anytime rumors of the next generation Nintendo console arrise, people quickly talk of HD and power.

however, the controller seems innovative-ish:

The Internet was set ablaze this week when the first wave of reports regarding Nintendo's next-generation console, the Wii 2, hit the web. First reported by Game Informer, and later confirmed by IGN's own sources, the console, which has been code named Project Cafe will match or surpass the processing power of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and support a new controller that combines a traditional dual-analog design with an integrated touchscreen display.

Though many were quick to liken the concept to the Dreamcast, we've since learned that the intended purpose for the display may be far more complex, working simultaneously with the console to bring interactive elements and even stream full games to the controller.

I wonder how it'll work.

^IGN's concept design. Personally, I think that Nintendo is actually going to get rid of the ABXY buttons altogether and use the touch screen for custom button mapping AND HUD displays, minimaps, menus, and whatnot.

A console without any buttons is not a console. Why in the world would Nintendo take out the A B Y X buttons anyway if it has backwards compatibility? :p A touchscreen based for buttons on a home console would be hell. Remember guys this is a mock-up of a controller which is very inaccurate. Their mock-up of the 3DS was waaay off when there were rumors so don't be gullible enough to believe that's the design. Anyway I'm not desprate enough to research information for the next Nintendo home console until E3 2011 comes since everything right now is all rumors.

We're theorizing. :p

The fact that I see a Java emulator screen (actually, the screen itself) already throws this out. ):<

That right stick looks too protruding imo. D: Unless they switched left stick and dpad. And two sets of shoulders? This ain't a PSX/2/3 controller guys.

IMO that screen is going to distract everyone from playing the games on their TV, which is THE POINT.

...in other news. The 4-dirn abxy would work really well for SCII (GCN). :p

Would there be a need for cabled/direct line connection or just wireless?

And how about docking the 3DS on the new console's cradle...? xD
Wireless since I just got Miis on my 3DS Via the Mii Channel by just holding 1 & 2 which gave me something to transport them wirelessly so I hope the next one has fully functional wireless. And the 3DS already has a cradle that came with it. :p Maybe just maybe you can get things via spotpass and recieve things like new content by having wireless with the new console.

Just stick with the 3DS. Don't even attempt to make another home console. A waste, in my opinion.

But of course...we all know they're doing this for the money(ugh, no s**t).

From IGN:

Possible name: Stream

Possible Price: $350 - $400

Release Date: Earliest Oct. 2011, latest early 2012.

Some Specs:
-The system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture
-Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster.
-1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D

How it will look:
-Similar size of original Xbox 360
-Resembles a SNES (maybe the color scheme???)
