Nintendo to reveal Next Generation Home Console? (Confirmed)

I'm guessing what they mean about the new console resembling the SNES is probably the hardware/games it's going to have. Remember how the SNES had NES games revamped with new graphics and music? This system is probably going to make remakes of past games and re-introduce Nintendo's classic franchises. Some of the best Mario/Kirby/Zelda games have been known to come from the SNES so I hope Nintendo creates better games.

One thing I wish they would do or any of these new-gen systems could do is hold multiple disks at once in them. Like if I have 3 regular go-to games I can just pick one of them from the game, I think that'd be really cool and convenient if possible.
Yeah, I agree with this too. It's sort of annoying changing discs each time I want to play a different game. Hopefully this does happen.

Although having more than one disc at once would be a good idea, I doubt it'll ever happen because the discs are meant to be kept in game cases when you're not using them to play. :p

You want them to collect dust when they're in the console, not being used at the moment?

I remember I used to always have all my games in their respective cases; I hated grabbing each and every case. Until I got a case to hold up about 20 or so discs. I also have a Video Now case that's small enough for Gamecube games to fit in. I thought that was neat.

Meh, I wouldn't want it to hold several discs. It's kinda pointless to me, I remember keeping games in my Wii...I had to send in my Wii to get repaired since it wasn't reading discs.

It's a bad idea to keep them in cases. I've heard that the discs can bow when they're left in them. I use a 96-Disc case to hold all my games, so I don't have to worry about that since they don't have to "hover" a centimeter above the case.

Sounds great. The 360 and PS3 are supposed to have a longer lifespan than the previous generation so the new console should have a few years to be the better of the three. I am, however, having a hard time seeing someone buy a $350-400 dollar system while they can get the 360 and PS3 for $200 and $250 respectively.

And please don't pull a Twilight Princess for Zelda. Lets end the Wii with one last hurrah.

It's confirmed. This new console is indeed to be unveiled at E3 2011 and will be playable at that time, but won't be released until sometime in 2012.

Nintendo Confirms New Console

Releases next year and playable at E3

Nintendo Japan has indeed confirmed the existence of its new game console, set for release in 2012 according to a new press release from Nintendo. Sadly, we still don't have any official images of the console or its controller.

Nintendo has also stated that the system will be playable at this year's E3 show in Los Angeles in June.

We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.

We'll be on hand in LA at E3 to get some hands-on time with the console and we'll bring you all of the juicy details, at least if they can pry the controller out of our hands long enough to write them up.

Until then, we can only speculate on what it might have.
