Uhh, yeah. It's F***ing horrible.
Oh well, if you put like THAT... :
HAHA, it's like I'm arguing with a 16-year... oh yeah, I am. Lemme put it into terms you'll understand:
Oh crap. You're right. You're 3 years older than me. Oh my god. My statements must be total crap then and I must not know a lot about Mario Kart then. I'm so sorry, Cody. I must have missed your great "19-year-old" wisdom. Hey, you know what? Maybe VIP is smarter than me just because he is 20-something years ol- OH WAIT.
Seriously, your argument turns to crap when you pull out the "I'm older than you so i'm right" card out of your butt. Just because you are 19 doesn't mean you don't know everything, and especially you don't know more about the world and gaming than I do. So please. Drop that argument. As far as i'm concerned, I'm arguing with an illogical fool, not some 19-year-old. Aaaah, feels good to have more maturity.
Most items take absolutely no skill to use, are generally way too powerful and are completely impossible to avoid without having a necessary item.
Ok?
Do you honestly want Nintendo to make items like this?:
PRESS THE A BUTTON TO OPEN THE BOX, THEN PRESS R AND L TO SELECT THE ITEM. THEN, USING THE LEFT CONTROL STICK, USE THE C BUTTONS TO UNLEASH THE ITEM. TO CONTROL THE KOOPA SHELLS, USE THE RIGHT JOYSTICK. TO CONTROL BLUE SHELLS, USE THE-
And again, compare the Blue Shells with MKWii and Double Dash. Both last longer and are more damaging. The DS's version only lasts you a good 3 seconds because there is no knockback effect unlike in Wii or DD. Red Shells can be easily avoided by going around a wall or obstacle.
Again, if you want to compare items and say that the item system in DS is bad, than you really need to play Wii and DD a lot more then.
For example, items like the Spiny Shell used to be very rare in the previous Mario Kart games but, in Mario Kart DS, they seem to show up over 3 times in a single race. That and the damn things FLY. The Spiny Shells only help out whoever's in 2nd/3rd and do nothing for the players who are way behind.
So, i'm guessing you don't like any challenge in games, then? And who cares if the things "fly"? You would rather have the N64 Spiny Shell where everybody gets hit? OR would you rather avoid the f***** and let it hit the person with the lead? Seems more fair to me, but alright, apparently every person needs to be "equal" in the game in order for it to be challenging.
Another pretentious bulls*** item is the Lightning Bolt. This s*** comes completely without warning, completely screws up power slides and causes you LOSE your item. Actually, in all cases, both the Spiny Shell and the Lightning Bolt make you lose your item (why punish people who wait until the right time to use items rather than blindly hammering away at the X button? Because the former uses actual strategy, which Mario Kart doesn't seem to like).
Again, you dislike challenge. Basically, a typical fanboy response. AWWW THIS ITEM ISN'T FAIR BECAUSE IT SCREWS ME UP. I bet when you get the Lightning Bolt, you scream out like a ditzy schoolgirl on speed.
If you're in 7th or 8th, the game may grant you an item called the Bullet Bill. Using this autopilots your kart with immense speed, makes you invincible to every situation and propels your kart for 1/2 a lap, knocking all of the players unfortunate to be on mighty Bullet Bill's turf out of the way.
I finally can agree with you. The Bullet Bills need to go.
This might not seem like much, but when you get hit by 4 Spiny Shells, 3 Bloopers, several Red Shells and two bolts of Lightning in a single race, that's too much.
What about all that "oh im such a good player and blah blah blah" crap? If you truly were, you'd be able to live through that crap.
Really, you're gonna tell me that the Egg 1 is one of the worst tracks in the game despite it being used to obtain several world records? That's amusing as hell. Nobody gives a F*** about Mario's whatever or Luigi's piece of s*** thing (unless you're talking about the vacuum).
Statistically, it's inferior. Besides, these "world records" could possibly be bulls***. How do we know it wasn't hacked? How do we know if it didn't have modifications?
That whole AI argument is completely void since it has been used for every Mario Kart game starting with Super Circuit. In other words, it's a trend, making your point void.
*sigh* I love fanboys who try to pull off their "errrgh i got the world record blah blah blah" crap, so that automatically makes them know everything about the damn game. All your points are basically complaints complaints complaints and most of them are illogical. I'm sorry, but by reading your statements, it seems like you want to take the challenge out of Mario Kart completely.
