For me, I pick Mario. No reason, other than he's Mario and this is a Mario game.

For my computer-based rivals, Peach because she seems to always be the most lucky and/or the Rival to me.
Then Luigi, because he always sides with me on 2-vs-2 (it seems like we always land on the same team!).
Finally, DK because he likes to get the Bowser Bomb and that keeps things interesting!

Throughout all the Mario Partys, I play as Nintendo's mascot, Mario. I used to try Koopa, now I'll just stick with Mario. I usually play as the main character of a series anyways.
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, DK, Toad, Toadette, Boo, Koopa Kid, Dry Bones, Koopa, and Shy Guy.

3 way tie between Waluigi, Dry Bones, and Kamek.
1-4: Mostly Peach and Yoshi, sometimes use DK, Daisy, and Waluigi
5: Mostly Boo and Koopa Kid with Yoshi and Peach sometimes
