So on a kind of twist on the idea of dreaming up boards, what if the next Mario Party used all boards that were references to past games, or based off of levels/worlds/galaxies from past games? These can be prior Mario Parties, the Super Mario games, or even from titles like Mario Kart or Mario Golf. And if you have ideas for what the board would be like, post them too!
I would absolutely love a board based around some iconic Super Mario 64 levels, like Whomp's Fortress, Dry Dry Desert, or Bob-Bomb Battlefield. Whomp's Fortress in particular I think could be interesting with the various stone creatures serving as different kinds of toll guards at intersections; like maybe Thwomps have to be paid off to pass and you can raise the amount like in previous games, Whomps have to be paid a set amount and move to block the alternate path, and Tromps can't be passed and move to block random paths.
I also think Rainbow Road could make a really intimidating board, if they could capture the feeling of tension it gives from the racing games in board form somehow. Maybe have lots of dash spaces, and have "hard turns" where if you roll too high you fall off the path instead of turning like normal and go back to the start.
It could also be neat if each character had a board based on themselves/their own games, sort of in the style of MP 1. Luigi's Mansion, DK's Jungle, Wario's Microgame Company, ect. Those characters and games all have so much unique flavor, it's weird to me that Nintendo didn't draw on them as often for the MP games and mostly dedicated boards to supporting characters like Boo or Koopa.
