The old Mario, (S)NES - 64 era. Everyone I knew waay back then were all Mariotards, and we would have have such a blast with SMW, MK64, SM64... But now even when everybody I know are turning to CoDtards/Battlefieldtards/whatevertards, I'm still sticking with Mario.

Even though (for me), Mario seems to have lost a little bit of charm since the Gamecube days.

I grew up on Banjo Tooie cause I never knew there was a one before, my sister just got it one day randomly cause she thought Banjo looked cool and she said she remembered him from Diddy Kong Racing or something like that. I kept on playing the game and while they'd talk to Gobi and stuff I was always like "why do they keep talking about this random pastime" until I connected the dots.

And probably Mario, DK, and Banjo Kazooie for me.

My nintendo icon would have to be Squirtle, ever since i got a plush toy of it about 10 years ago and also its my favourite pokemon.
