I'd be kinda intrigued if they allowed customisation of karts/bikes/whatever and included extra item storage (like the DD two items thing). Then I could permanently have an extra Golden Shroom! Woo! ...not.

@Matt: It's possible to hurt yourself with poorly thrown shells (or shells on Baby Park), and Fireballs as well.

I think the items strength should go back to the MKDS days, I just HATE, HATE, HATE how a Red Shell can stop you for 5 Minutes and go from 1st to around 9th in an online match, very frustrating.

I think the Thunder Cloud should be removed, while its good if you know how to use it correctly/get it in a good position(which never happens) its otherwise useless, and the speed boost you get is cancelled out by the fact that you shrink, I'd like to see the "Feather" item back that so many people liked in Super Mario Kart(SNES)

Thunder Cloud: If you're last or first by a decent margin, it's a b*tch.
POW Block: Too cheap, and controls to stop it are a bit unresponsive sometimes.
Blue Shell from Hell: Self-explanatory, way too cheap and can be used for a ladder fall in close races.

Yeah, like, no matter how annoying items can be, there a part of the game, taking them out would make it like a normal, generic, boring racing game. And it won't really be Mario Kart anymore; at least not to me.

Nintendo seriously needs to redevelop their item system. MKWii has the most item rape in a game I have ever seen.
