Which Decade had/has the Best Music?

I'm a complete sucker for the Eighties, and while I adore the luxury and style with the occasionally wordless charm of the Fifties and earlier and into some contemporary, I'm gonna have to go with the decade that gave us gems such as "Eat it", "Girls Just Wanna have Fun", "Ghostbusters", "I Love Rock & Roll/Rocky Road", the Super Mario Bros. soundtrack, many others and who could forget all those awesome movie scores! "Dum-dah-dah dah da-da-da Duh-da-dum..."

I'd say 10s because most artists / bands I like made their best albums in the tens. In general, probably the nineties, due to the amount of absolute pop trash (and wannnabe pop) nowadays, but damn if there isn't some good stuff nowadays.

Categorizing all music together as a decade doesn't make sense to me.

Well, music changes with the culture. Like the 50s sounds nothing like now. There'll always be outliers, but the general sound of music (I suppose Pop Music would matter the most in defining a decade?) changes as the culture does. So it's defendable.

That being said I only voted 10s for the outliers, so I suppose if I was thinking about the popular music of the time I'd probably go for ~50s or 90s?

I always say that taste on music is subjective. What someone believes to be great music isn't necessarily good for someone else. So that said, every decade has their good music and bad ones. I can mostly relate to the 00's and 10's music since that is the music I grew up with and the music I'm getting old with. Though, I love some of the stuff from the 80's and 90's.

RIP music . . .  :'(
