I forgot to say the Wii is the very first Nintendo home console that was backwards compatible with past ge games which actually dragged the Wii's life span a tiny bit by lacking 1st party titles. Hopefully games like Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, The New Kirby, Skyward Sword, and Last Story would redeem the Wii for the utterly lackluster 2011 it has had thus far.

How did it expand its lifespan? The Wii still has mostly lame games with backward compatibility or not. I mean the backward compatibility is the reason why I got mine for Christmas on the year it came out cause my Gamecube was busted but that doesn't make it any better. I'm not contributing to Nintendo by playing my GC games and not buying any Wii games.

I took his post as him saying it hurt the Wii's lifespan but now I don't know what he meant to say =P
He's saying it helped the lifespan for him because it was his first console, and he could buy Wii games and Gamecube games. So it was more of an incentive than 360 or something.
I don't know what he means by dragged. Cause normally dragging would be extending but who knows. He said thus far though so his post is official.

... I meant to say the backwards compatibility helped the Wii since some WIi gamers never owned a GCN so while the Wii first came out the GCN games occupied new Wii owners.

The wii is on it's last limbs because there haven't been that many good Mario titles, which were so popular because of their originality of controls. Nintendo better have backwards compatibility with the Wii HD or else they're going to lose that somewhat constant source of revenue that they get from their big titles.
When I think of Wii, the first thing I think of is the two Mario titles and then the Wii Music and gimick crap like that But I would argue and say they've had enough Mario games.

Is it me or so far the games I listed sucked, I haven't tried Sport mix , but all others sucked.... Like most (and I said most) of the Wii games suck...
