I had my first Calc III exam a couple of weeks ago. I didn't do how I expected. Hopefully the upcoming test on Tuesday I do better on.
I have a Physics exam every Monday, it's so annoying! And their usually on topics we learned over a week ago, and it's hard to remember that stuff while still learning and working on something new. The average in class for just exams is 44%. Not so good, since they're worth 36% of one's grade. Why is it so low? Well, the damn homework doesn't go well with the exams! They're like almost completely different. I'll be lucky to even pass the class with a C because of it. (I'm probably gonna drop with a W and take a better teacher next semester.) So in other words, most of my exam nonsense happens in Physics, a topic I really enjoy (though it's hard to do that in this class). I do pretty well on Homework, Labs, Multiple Choice quizzes (scoring an average above 88 on all)
I actually have a History exam today, hopefully i'll do well! It's an online class, and since History isn't my best subject, I must have my textbook right next to me when taking it.
On the topic of exams, I sort of don't like the idea. For the most part, they are there to see if you can memorize some concepts and then forget them later (which is how a lot of classes work). For higher level math (like Calculus) things from the past tend to weave themselves in with the newer ideas, so for that, I guess tests are OK.
