I want in. I'm a bit busy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, though I guess I can afford to skip a part of the marathon I want to watch... :p

4 person pools? Can you explain that to me please? (If that means a free for all then that's a no-no, because someone can just wait for a while the others weaken each other while the person can kill the last person at the end :p)

Items should be turned off (especially Smash Ball since someone would go Sonic/Pikachu just for the damn Smash Ball >__>)

How would stages work?

 
Keep in mind I haven't played this game for a looong time so I forget a lot lol.

4 person pools would be like you're in a group with four people and you play each person in your group (1v1) once. Then depending on how you do in your group, you'll be seeded for a single-elimination bracket.

Items will be turned off.

Stage would probs always be final destination. I haven't really thought about it.

Tournament, I was thinking of having groups like I said earlier so you don't just play one game and you're finished.
I'm not really sure if I answered your question though.
 
For Stages, can we use the official legal stages for SSBB? I really don't like people picking Final Destination over and over and over... =P

If this is going to be a tournament, then I don't think it'll get finished in one day. =P Probably should have everyone do a 2 out of 3 match and whoever wins advances. Though this is your tourney, so that's up to you, but I think that's cleaner and easier to do. XD

I have no idea what I'm doing.
So we'll just go with what you suggested lol, 4-8 people single elimination best two out of three matches.

And yeah let's use official SSBB stages.

My wi-fi is sporadic so I might get disconnected accidentally, in which case the two players can recreate the situation. (That's fair, right?)
If it's obvious you disconnected because you're losing, then that one match counts as a forfeit.

I don't want this to die so we're beginning the tournament today! Using random.org based on when you signed up, I decided the match ups for round 1!

Round 1
Match 1
Staryu vs. Chaos
(Jigglypuff vs. Pikachu)

Match 2
Slacker vs. Yoshi
(Falco vs. Ness)

Let the games begin!

GOOD QUESTION.

Since it was random, just have the first person pick the first (starter) stage, second person pick the second stage, and then final destination will be used as a tie breaker (regardless if it was already used). Stages are on Staryu's post; pick a legal stage.
