So has Nintendo abandoned motion sensing or what?

Looking at the Wii U controller, I notice that it's not a remote.

So does this mean Nintendo has abandoned motion sensing, or what? Maybe they're going to have motion sensing as an add-on, sorta like Kinect? I don't know how I'd feel if they did disappear. I enjoyed them while they were around, but looking back now, they were a bit of a pain.

They do have motion sensing still. They showed many demos of games at E3 where you have to move your controller in wacky ways like using it to drive a space ship, moving it side to side to avoid getting hit by things, and moving the controller to look around an area.

Yeah, and even so, the Wii Remotes seem to be still in use for the Wii U. So I don't think it's truly abandoned. But it probably will be abandoned after Wii U, since the console after Wii U will probably not have Wii as a backward compatibility.

The controller has a motion sensor from what I can tell. Look at how they use it as a scope in the presentation video. Couldn't do that without some sort of motion sensor.
