The latest Pokemon game, entitled Pokemon Conquest, is a cross-over of two Japanese favorites. One game is Nobunaga's Ambition, where players traverse various continents and regions and take control of various areas by battling RPG-style. I think Pokemon does not need an introduction as most players know what Pokemon is. Pokemon Conquest is a unique take on both of them. There might be spoilers below.
In the game you start out as a newbie Bushou Leader commanding the city of Aurora. Your partner Eevee is by your side. Oichi and her Jigglypuff then meet you. This is the start of your army. After countless battles for enemy nations, each based off a specific Pokemon type, you can begin to recruit new members and Pokemon to your army. Oichi informs you of the tale that is legend, "If one controls all of the regions in the nation of Ransei, they will unleash the creator of Ransei." Oichi then says the Nobunaga is on the quest for this reason. Not going to spoil to much but on to gameplay.
This game plays like most grid based RPG's with each player having stats and attacks etc. In Pokemon Conquest each Pokemon has only one attack that will change if and when they level up. These are based on real Pokemon moves like Quick Attack and Water Gun. Throw in Bushou Leaders and they contribute special abilities such as increasing range and attack for certain amounts of time. These special Bushou Leader abilities can only be used once per battle so strategy is key. That is just scratching the basic details of this game. I encourage you to get it and try it out.
