OUYA (pronounced ooo-yah) is an upcoming video game console, announced in July 2012 and expected in March 2013, that is built completely for open-source software and for anyone to develop their own games, along with modding it without voiding the warranty, allowing hackers to do whatever they want with the OUYA. The source below is their Kickstarter page (check out the video), which has a lot of info on this revolutionary game console. They have raised over $8.5 million, which is over 800% of what they were hoping to collect. All the games on this system are required to have some sort of free-to-play form, which lets you sample everything they have to offer. OUYA's games will be on its own online OUYA store, similar to the App store, which will have games and apps and possibly more. The console will have a cheap price tag of $99. Pre-orders are even available on their website. Below are a couple pictures of the console itself and its controller. (Notice the OUYA buttons, taken from their KS page, the other pic was from Google

And for you computer savvy's here are its specs:
- Tegra3 quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB of internal flash storage
- HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
- WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
- Bluetooth LE 4.0
- USB 2.0 (one)
- Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
- Android 4.0
- ETHERNET! (Announced by Muffi 7/18)
I just found out about this today and was amazed by how many gamers have donated to this project; A whopping 8.5 Million. It's not suppose to compete with current/next-gen consoles, but it's open for everybody to use, play, mod, etc. One downside is the games only being online-only from their store; I prefer having physical games (if available) and not having to go to the store to buy a top-up card. They'll probably be of crappy quality too.
What are your thoughts on this new, open-source game console?
