New Super Mario Bros. 2

Would have been much more clever if they had the gameplay from Super Mario 2 USA so that it is TRULY New Super Mario Bros. 2 but apparently Nintendo doesnt like cool ideas.

This game's name is so childish. Why are they choosing to completely unacknowledge Wii? It should be NSMB3.

Anyway, this looks amazing, I'm so getting a 3DS just for this. Don't know about it being mainly SMB3 like, though.

New Super Mario Bros. is entirely seperate franchise from standard SMB. NSMB has all the moves from 64 and Galaxy while the original SMB series (including Super Mario World) just has the basic moves. I doubt they will ever do an installment in the original series again though because it would take away a s***load of moves.
Um, it's part of the SMB series. It's name is right in the title. You're justifying something as not a sequel based on moves, that doesn't make sense.

That's the thanks they get for not making it based on Super Mario Bros. 2? :(

All four original Super Mario sidescrollers had the same basic formula with the addition of Yoshi in SMW. Then NSMBDS came out and redefined it with the Star Coin system, the addition of modern moves, more minigames, Wii motion controls, etc. That is why it is called NEW Super Mario Bros. Why didn't they call it Super Mario Bros. 5 then? Oh thats right. Because its a radical departure from SMW. ALSO, yes, I am disappointed with this new game because it looks as though they are gonna stick with the same goddamn gameplay from NSMBWii and therefore add no creativity whatsoever.

Hmm...the pics looks very similar to its prequels, which is disappointing. I wish they'd come up with something original, it seems all they're doing is changing a few small things and adding some old things, hence the P meter. I hope it at least is like SMB3, with the map and all, but it really needs to be a challenge. I'm tired of all that easy crap. Like in SM3DL, why the hell would they give you a Golden Tanooki Leaf?!?! It just ruins the gameplay experience. I haven't used it, but I think that's a load of crap and they need to quit making these games so easy that a 4-year-old could complete 'em.

Mario games are targeted more for children so I can understand the games being easy.

Dude, it's part of the series. Face it. Just because "5" isn't in the name doesn't mean it's not part of the series. You DO see "Super Mario Bros." in the title though, right?

I'll be enjoying this game, though  :D

I believe even Mario Wiki calls it a seperate series. I am not saying it's a different franchise, I'm just saying it's a spin-off.

This pretty much. You can think of it like the original Mega Man series and Mega Man X series.

It technically is. Like Kinetic put it, it strays away from the original series in terms of gameplay.

Full downloadable title on the eShop! Just where this game belongs. The only downside is that the price will be roughly the same.

I thought you meant it just now was on the eShop, so I turned on my 3DS and looked around like an idiot and then realized "It's not August...." :p
