MPL TCG?

Definitely M&L3 sprites for most things. Things like a Freezie might need custom sprites, or we could just go with Ice Flower palette swap.

Element recap:
Fire - Fire Flower
Ice - Freezie/Ice Flower
Wind - Super Leaf/Cape Feather
Thunder - Thunderbolt
Metal - Hammer
Earth - Shell?
Light - Shine
Dark - Ztar

...that is if we keep the 8-element system... >_<

Re Sushi's card: No point having a Witch that means nothing to us. And NO PKMN CARD DESIGNS.



Back to actual design stuff:

Do we keep the 3-level system?
How does the POW/DEF/SPD attributes affect battle flow?
To what extent can we use the +/- POW/DEF?
Do we have limited edition cards, like Gintama MLYW, with different movesets?
Are we having a max. of 4EN per EN card?
Do we still want Environment Cards?
What types of Item Cards should we have?
Status effects, apart from +/- POW/DEF?

Gameplay stuff will be thought of later, after design commences.

Don't think  it's necessarily, I think an 8 elemental(Think we'll call them attributes though) system works fine.

Alright, so 8-attribute system confirmed. Magic is overused, and the Marioverse wouldn't use magic (despite both Peach and Bowser supposedly having magical powers... >_>)

I think an idea which needs to be addressed quickly is the concept of "environment cards" as pre-mentioned. These would affect attribute efficacy/efficiency, and may add other bonuses such as +10HP every turn for both sides.
Should we implement them? Or does that complicate everything further?
[I think Yu-Gi-Oh may have a similar system to this, or something. But not Trap Cards; those would fall under Items.]

I think H-J's talking about Peach's Heart Power and Bowser can breath fire, but that's I can think about.
I'm not entirely undestanding the game itself.
Here's what I figured out.
  • 8 attributes
  • Level 1-3 cards
  • Some type of item card
What's the game about? How do you win?
 
The Pros and Cons of Both:

FP:
PROS - Less Cards to make, faster battles, more OP moves quickly (OHKO anyone?!)
CONS - Less strategy, limited use of FP per Chara Card (unless there is an FP recovery item), more counters for FP cost (if along PKMN lines), no real use for levelling up (how would you?)

EN Cards:
PROS - more applications for cost and attack/retreat (again, think PKMN), replenishable over battle normally, adds an incentive to level up
CONS - Slower battles, more cards to make



Personally, I prefer EN Cards.

Re the magic issue, it's just that maybe Japan said that Bowser was a dark magic specialist (ie summoning troops). But drop the matter.
 
If we're trying to make this to be based off of the forum, then shouldn't we do something Mario-like, like adding FP?

I'm just sayin'.
