This is a game of mafia with a special setup known as Smalltown.
Most people would have heard of or played a mafia game already, but if you haven't or need a refresher on general gameplay, check this flash tutorial out: http://cataldo.freeshell.org/mafia/mafiascum04.swf
Smalltown, I hear you ask? Smalltown is a special kind of mafia where all roles are known as well as who has what role. Note that the alignments are still random so anyone could be a mafioso. Gameplay becomes more of a logic puzzle using all the town's roles to find the bad guys.

Mario Mafia is finally here! I wish you all the best of luck.
Game Setup
-12 players (9 town, 2 mafia, 1 serial killer)
-Drafted roles
-Day Start
-1 mafioso to deliver kill action (they may also use their power role)
-Serial killer has compulsive kill (power role may still be used)
-Lynches must occur from Day 2 onward (Day 1 may end No Lynch if desired)
-Serial killer has kill priority over mafia
-Communication (mafia, serial killer, masonry) via QuickTopics
-Night actions via PM or QuickTopic
Win Condition
-Town - you win (collectively, even if dead) if all threats to the town are eliminated. That means get rid of the mafia and the serial killer.
-Mafia - you win (collectively, even if dead) when it's logically impossible to lose any more mafia. Given the number of powers plus the serial killer, this won't necessarily mean that mafia has more members than town.
-Serial Killer - you win when you are one of the final two left alive. Or by yourself. Serial killers are stronger than mafia in SK vs maf situations.
I'm sure you've read this already, but here it is again to get you in the mood!
It’s another peaceful day in the Mushroom Kingdom. The trees are swaying. The clouds are drifting. The birds are chirping. The water shines like glitter as it reflects the yellow rays of the blazing hot sun. A light green leaf detaches it’s self from the tight grip of its mother. It floats in the air, spinning elegantly at every opportunity. It softly lands on the hard, dirty ground. *CRUNCH*. Two dark figures stand above, undoubtedly there to cause mischief, but what are their evil intentions? The answer…? Well, the answer is not too far away.
I am proud to present...

Mario Mafia: Rosalina's Request
“Mario” Quivered Rosalina. “I need to ask a favour of you. The Luma’s have told me that Bowser has recruited two individuals to steal the grand stars from this observatory. Without the star power, the Luma’s will lose all of their power and would cease to exist. I cannot leave the Observatory, for it is my duty to care for the Luma’s; Thus, I have no other option than to beg of your help. I need you to track them down and get rid of them. Please consider my request; the Luma’s lives depend on it.” Mario reluctantly nods. As he heads towards Earth, he briefly looks back and noticed Rosalina quickly vanish into the background. The atmosphere bleakened. The Luma’s began to lose their energetic spark and became greatly saddened; filled with humungous amounts of fear. Mario had no other choice but to announce Rosalina’s request to his unsuspecting friends.
“WHAT?!” shouted Peach. “Come quick, outside my castle, guys!” Two minutes passed as everyone hurried towards Peach. They all started to pant, trying to take in large gasps of air. “We have a traitor in our midst”. Shocked faces looked everywhere as Mario and his friends began to swiftly turning at one another. Traitor? No, Impossible. Mario explained the day’s proceedings.
“Well, what should we do?” asked Toad. “I KNOW!” proclaimed Daisy. “Let’s train to develop the skills necessary to beat those scumbags”. Dry Bones agreed. “We need to role-play mafia to prepare for our future affair. Only the most skilled of us shall head towards the Observatory to help out Rosalina.” Waluigi replied with a faint chuckle. “Hmm… role-playing, eh? Sounds good.” Dry Bones added “The person who can eradicate the threat shall be crowned the superstar”. Everyone perked up with sparkles in their eyes. Wario impatiently groaned “Hurry up and begin our first training session, we don’t have any time to lose”.
Little did Mario and friends know that the two scumbags were actually standing with them in broad daylight. FOOLS! Do they actually think they can bring US down? I suppose we can take advantage of this… ‘Training’, and use it to our own advantage. “AHAHAHAHAHA” *cough cough* “Hey, is everything okay over there?” “Oh yes. Wonderful”.

Only the first game will be a Smalltown setup, where players can decide their characters. To avoid confusion, once you have selected a character, you must remain as that character for the entire duration of Mario Mafia. Each character will also come with a secret number. You must NOT reveal this number to anybody. Once the first game (Peach's Castle) has been completed, roles will then be randomized. Alignments will remain randomized of course. =p However, the character you have selected and the secret number you receive is fixed and cannot be changed.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Mario, the Double Voter.
During the day, your vote counts as two votes. You don’t have any night actions.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Luigi, the Tracker.
During the night, you may choose someone to track. You will find out all of your choice's targets for the night. You will not know what was performed on each target. Your tracking may be reflected back on yourself.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Peach, the two-shot Motivator.
During the night phase, you may choose to motivate someone. They will get an extra chance to perform their night action. You may NOT motivate the same person twice. They will be notified that they have been motivated, and the effect lasts the night they were motivated only. You may motivate the following people: Luigi (Tracker), Wario (Coverer), Yoshi (Detector), Toad (Sensor), Boo (Hider), Daisy (Protector), and DK (Redirector). Factional kills (from either mafia or serial killer) cannot be motivated, only night actions.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Yoshi, the one-shot Detector.
During the night, you may find out the alignment of one person.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Wario, the two-shot Coverer.
You may choose somebody to leave the scene for the next day and night phase. During their absence, they’re unable to vote, discuss during the day and cannot submit any night actions. They may still be lynched; however they are immune to all night actions except Dry Bones (vig) kill and SK factional kill. Dry Bones (vig) cannot be affected.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are DK, the two-shot target Redirector.
During the night, you may choose someone to redirect their night action. You can choose anyone (including yourself) to be the new target of the night action. If you target an anti-town (mafia/serial killer) player, the factional kill will be redirected in favour of the night action. If a player has more than one night action to perform (example, Protection or motivation), the first action submitted will be redirected. Dry Bones (vig) kill and Boo (hider) cannot be redirected.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Daisy, the three-shot Protector.
During the night, you may choose someone to protect from night actions. You may not choose the same person twice in a row. You cannot protect someone from Dry Bones (vig) kill or factional kills.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Waluigi, the two-shot Thief.
During the night, you may steal one shot of someone's power for your own use. You cannot steal someone's power if they have no shots left. You cannot steal Dry Bones (vig), Toadette (mason) or Mario's (double vote) power. If your target is successfully motivated, you still steal their power but they will still be able to act.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Toad, the one-shot Sensor.
During the night, you may choose to analyze the lynch wagon of either that day or the day before. (i.e. if it's Night 2, you can analyze either Day 1 or Day 2's wagon.)You will find out how many anti-town (maifa/serial killer) players voted on the wagon. You will not know the identities of the anti-town players.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Toadette, the two-shot Masoniser.
During the night, you may choose to recruit someone into the masonry. Mafia players cannot be recruited (even if you are mafia yourself) - you will be notified when this happens. The Serial Killer may be recruited into the masonry. You may communicate with your mason buddies at any time in the course of the game, using the Quicktopic.
===============Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Dry Bones, the one-shot unstoppable Vigilante.
During the night, you may choose someone to kill. They will be killed without any interference from other night actions.
Welcome to [MM: RR]! You are Boo, the 2-shot Hider.
During the night, you may choose someone to hide behind. Anything that targets you, besides Dry Bones (vig) kill, will miss completely. However, if the person you are hiding behind is killed, you will die as well.

Hider
Redirector
Protector
Masoniser
Motivator
Serial Killer Factional Kill
Mafia Factional Kill

Rules
Read these carefully to avoid being mod-killed.
Bolded rules are pretty important.
1. Bold your votes. Especially in this sort of game where player names and role titles can be tossed about, be sure to make it clear when you're voting with Vote: Toblet or similar. No bold = no vote. Same thing goes for unvotes.
2. No editing of posts. Make a new post (called an EBWOP) to correct any minor errors you may have made, such as formatting. If you worded something really wrongly, tough luck - it's open to everyone's scrutiny. Modkills will be made if it gets out of hand.
3. Deadlines will be set, changed and removed at my discretion. This applies to night actions more so than the day vote since you have to lynch from Day 2 onward, but in the off case that a lynch deadline is called for, majority (non-lynch requirement) vote will dictate the lynch.
4. No extraneous communication allowed unless role/alignment states so. There should be plenty to talk about in the topic without having to resort to other means. Modkill will be the penalty.
5. Keep consistent with names when voting. If everyone prefers to vote by player name, that's fine; if they want to vote by role name, that's alright as well. But avoid mixing player and role names in the vote - especially if we have players like Staryu or Boo, who share player names with some of the roles.
6. Stick to the forum rules, and don't act like an ass to others. Pretty straightforward. The activity's here for fun, not for people to be bashed or feel victimized.
7. After someone hammers, no votes can be removed from the lynch wagon. Votes can be added which is fine, but don't take off a hammer just because you didn't realize your vote was hammer. You'll probably be warned but not modkilled, but try to avoid it if you can.
8. The night phase should be a time for quiet, save for free-roaming ghosts of past phases. On the flipside, I'd like ghosts to keep their roaming on day phases to a minimum.
9. If referring to your role, try to avoid copying a PM verbatim. By all means use quotes (preferably from the game topic) but copying the whole role PM isn't going to look good. If you display your alliance via a PM copy, you'll be modkilled.
10. Replacements will be called in if a player has stated they'll be having a long absence, or if they are inactive for 7 days. Replacement order is done in order of signing up.
11. As the gamemod, usual courtesy/respect/etc. applies. My word will for most circumstances be final. If there's a discrepancy, don't argue, instead take it to PM. I shouldn't bite.
12. Contribute. This is quite simple but seriously, if I find you aren’t contributing anything to the game, I shall just replace you. It’s no fun when the game doesn’t progress because everyone’s too scared to say anything.
13. Have fun I have set this up so everyone can have a good time.
