Metal Gear Series

If you love to play RPG games with guns and espionage, this is the series for you. There were Metal Gear games on the Nintendo, but I haven't played them. The first Metal Gear Solid game was amazing. It was about being a guy named Solid Snake that was put a a spy to learn more about what the Genome soldiers and his brother were making, which was a Metal Gear. Metal Gear was basically a huge animal machine of destruction that was capable of sending nukes to countries to gain supreme power. This game has a lot of cutscenes, but it's a great game. The weapons were great, they had a nice variety. The bosses were hard when first playing and the storyline keeps you playing until you're done.
The second Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty, was after the first. You are a guy named Raiden who infiltrates a huge oil base in the middle of the ocean. There is a Metal Gear in the game, but later in the end. The controls are the same, but you could now tranquilize someone and drag them away. The AI on the game is more realistic and more gripping than the first imo. Solid Snake appears in the game only in the beginning as playable, but after the beginning, he is not playable. The gameplay overall is just realistic and the bosses on this game are hard as well.
The third, and my most favorite, is Snake Eater. The game takes place before all of the Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid games.  You are a guys known as Naked Snake, who is mentioned as someone else in the other games, and you are in a forest or jungle type of surrounding and you have to basically destroy a tank called, the Shagohad, and have to fight bosses, I kind of forget the objectives, someone can fill that in if they know it. The gameplay in this game is the best I've ever seen. The addition of camoflague was a big deal. It made the game the most realistic in the series and the most gripping. There is a lot of gameplay and bosses, but they are all different. In this game, you can use people as hostages or shields to help protect yourself. The knife with the gun in this game make it really entertaining to ask people for information and to slit the soldiers' throats.
I have not played the fourth, but am hoping to get a PS3 in the near-feature.

If there is anything I screwed up or left out, please feel free to add to it.

I never knew much about Metal Gear Solid. Only a few references from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And I also know that there's Solid Snake, too. And they are RPGs? I never knew that. Are they just as good as Paper Mario and/or Pokemon?
In my opinion, they are better. And yes, they are RPG, but they are awesome. You can buy MGS2 and MGS3 for about $10 at GameStop.

They are better for the more mature gamer.  The whole shooting thing kinda makes that a "duh". Plus they have much more intriguing, and original storylines that are all connected.  It's always the same thing for Mario/Pokemon games.
Mario: Defeat Bowser/rescue Princess Peach
Pokemon: Make them as strong as possible, beat the elite four/champion

Nothing is certain in those games. When you`re facing a boss, shoot until it won`t let you shoot anymore.  That`s how you know you won. The same thing happened to me with psycho mantis.
Yeah, and the first time you died, you fell through the falling floor ;D. Anyway, I loved the boss battles. It took me 2-3 tries fighting the Hind on the roof then having to find that one spot when it shoots the missiles and destroys the whole roof. I hated that part the most. The infinite stairs (not really) were a pain without any FAMAS ammo.:p

I wouldn't mind giving this series a go. But I can't all judge because I haven't played the games...but Snake's personality and attitude is hilarious.

He's has a great sense of humor. He can be a...well you know, but it makes the story good. The story in this series is amazing. It's one of the best stories in any game I've played. Also, they have a free database on PSN that has basically everything about the game. You'd have to beat the 4th one to get the full database info, though.
