Yea, I remember constantly playing Bowser's level to get a bunch of stars to buy everything.

I enjoy this mode. Like Marioguy said, it's an easy way to earn more Mini-Games and Stars. I liked the Bowser board, since it has 31 spaces.

The mode was great to earn Stars and minigames. The Infernal Tower (?) was great because of Chain Chomps sending you back to Start. Board wise, yes it could have done with a few more.

How many turns are there in Solo Mode? I'm thinking there's 50, but I'm not quite sure. ???

I think the max was something like 20, I don't think I'd be that high, the boards are way too small.

Had to be higher than that, because I remember having more than 30 mini-games on hold.
