Mario Kart: Super Circuit

I played it but did not like it all that much.

I still wonder why Koopa was playable and not Wario.

I thought MKSC's lineup was the same as MK64's. Don't forget Wario stole Koopa's kart >.>

What are you talking about? :p

Speaking of characters, the cast being the same as MK64's was rather good since there weren't any more surprises I wanted :p

...what are you talking about. Wario was playable, Koopa wasn't. I think you're confusing it with the wrong Mario Kart lol :p

Oh crap! You're right!

I was thinking of Super Mario Kart! X_X My bad!

On the other hand then, I liked Super Circuit. It was pretty fun.

I never knew why people put 64 so high, unless rubberband AI makes a game for you. :p Also the items in the game were kinda f'd up, mainly the red shells.

Super Circuit was alright but like I liked MKDS better for whatever reason, but like this game is cool I don't get how 64 is though. Maybe it's just me.

I never really played Super Circuit that much, only like five times. I played the others more than this, I didn't find some sort of appeal here. Game was okay, but getting good scores is tough.
As a kid I could never get good scores. :p I think I improved them a few years ago, like mainly my 150cc ones were trash. Like if there's a mirror mode in this game I never unlocked it. I did unlock the SNES tracks though but I'm not even sure I got all for 150cc.

For me...let's see...

1. Mario Kart DS
2. Mario Kart: Super Circuit
3. Mario Kart 64
4. Mario Kart Wii
5. Super Mario Kart
6. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Alright, here is the 2nd set of patterns that only appear in "Quick Run" mode and only on stages 2, 3, and 4. Also you guys better not be all like:
tumblr_l64o8pMLgz1qbo7v5o1_250.gif

Cuz then I'll be like ">:/"

Mario: Wario, Toad, Peach, Yoshi, DK, Bowser, Luigi
Luigi: Bowser, DK, Peach, Mario, Wario, Toad, Yoshi
Peach: Wario, Toad, Mario, Yoshi, Luigi, Bowser, DK
Toad: Bowser, DK, Wario, Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Luigi
Yoshi: Bowser, DK, Wario, Mario, Peach, Toad, Luigi
DK: Wario, Mario, Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi, Toad
Wario: Toad, Peach, Luigi, Mario, Yoshi, Bowser, DK
Bowser: Wario, Luigi, Toad, Yoshi, DK, Peach, Mario

DS was boss, idk why people put it so below.

Perhaps it could be:

1. the horrible item balance
2. the lack of decent karts other than Egg 1 and the Dry Bomber
3. unpolished/unoriginal (for the most part) stages
4. the cheating AI
5. the tracks they brought back weren't that good
6. Mission Mode -- good idea, bad execution (most were "collect the coins" or "do this in this amount of time"... same stuff)
7. multi-player was poor

?

Honestly, the game has HUGE flaws and the reason why critics blindly praise the game is because it's Mario Kart.

1. the horrible item balance

You're seriously going to sit there and tell me that the DS had a bad item balance? I really hope you don't compare that system to Double Dash!! or MKWii because you will find that you simply can't. Those games had the worst item rape known to man, and to sit there and say that the DS's version had the worst is simply baffling. All the items were fair. If you were in last place, you got Stars and Bullet Bills. Now, like in MKWii, you get Bullet Bills in 6th place. Do you think that's fair?
2. the lack of decent karts other than Egg 1 and the Dry Bomber

Ironic since the Egg 1 was one of the worst karts in the game. You obviously need to try Mario's Shooting Star or Luigi's Berserker.
3. unpolished/unoriginal (for the most part) stages

Waluigi's Pinball, Shroom Ridge, Yoshi Falls, Tick Tock Clock, Peach Gardens, and Luigi's Mansion all brought something new to the table. And of course, here comes the "unoriginal" argument. Starting with SMK, every course has have either a spooky theme, a beach theme, a castle theme, a plains theme, etc. To say that the stages were unoriginal is terrible arguing, as all Mario Karts borrow many things from their predecessors. That's like saying Double Dash was unoriginal because they used a jungle theme for DK Mountain and Dino Dino Jungle, or that it was unoriginal because it featured a Rainbow Road and a Bowser's Castle (and you can basically say that about any Mario Kart anyways). Sorry, I don't see how this point is valid.

4. the cheating AI

Enlighten me how the AI cheat in MKDS. I think DD!!, MKWii, and even Super Circuit had worse AI.

5. the tracks they brought back weren't that good

I agree, but you have to take into account the DS's hardware for such ports. They probably wanted to put better tracks in, but the DS couldn't do that. That's why you see such plain tracks like Frappe Snowland or Choco Mountain. Choco Island 2 is the worst port ever, imo.

6. Mission Mode -- good idea, bad execution (most were "collect the coins" or "do this in this amount of time"... same stuff)
7. multi-player was poor

I agree with the last 2. But with 6, the coin and time challenges offered you more obstacles for you to overcome, so you basically were doing 2 missions at once. At least that what I felt it was like. :p I really do think challenges offered you various cool missions, but yeah, it can get repetitive after a while. Agree with you on 7, but come on, this is friggin Nintendo Wi-Fi. If you want the good s***, go with PS3.

Honestly, the game has HUGE flaws and the reason why critics blindly praise the game is because it's Mario Kart.

It's so nice to judge opinions.

Uhh, yeah. It's fucking horrible.

All the items were fair.
HAHA, it's like I'm arguing with a 16-year... oh yeah, I am. Lemme put it into terms you'll understand:

Most items take absolutely no skill to use, are generally way too powerful and are completely impossible to avoid without having a necessary item.

For example, items like the Spiny Shell used to be very rare in the previous Mario Kart games but, in Mario Kart DS, they seem to show up over 3 times in a single race. That and the damn things FLY. The Spiny Shells only help out whoever's in 2nd/3rd and do nothing for the players who are way behind.

Another pretentious bullshit item is the Lightning Bolt. This shit comes completely without warning, completely screws up power slides and causes you LOSE your item. Actually, in all cases, both the Spiny Shell and the Lightning Bolt make you lose your item (why punish people who wait until the right time to use items rather than blindly hammering away at the X button? Because the former uses actual strategy, which Mario Kart doesn't seem to like).

If you're in 7th or 8th, the game may grant you an item called the Bullet Bill. Using this autopilots your kart with immense speed, makes you invincible to every situation and propels your kart for 1/2 a lap, knocking all of the players unfortunate to be on mighty Bullet Bill's turf out of the way.

This might not seem like much, but when you get hit by 4 Spiny Shells, 3 Bloopers, several Red Shells and two bolts of Lightning in a single race, that's too much.

Ironic since the Egg 1 was one of the worst karts in the game. You obviously need to try Mario's Shooting Star or Luigi's Berserker.
Really, you're gonna tell me that the Egg 1 is one of the worst tracks in the game despite it being used to obtain several world records? That's amusing as hell. Nobody gives a fuck about Mario's whatever or Luigi's piece of shit thing (unless you're talking about the vacuum).

Sorry, I don't see how this point is valid.
By "unoriginal," I meant they used shit all throughout that appeared in other levels, like the cars on Shroom Ridge (even though Mushroom Bridge is in the game). You mentioned the only good courses pretty much. What's DK Pass other than a generic course with Frappe Snowland snowmen? Waluigi Pinball and Tick Tock Clock are among my favorite courses in any Mario Kart game because they actually brought things together, hence "for the most part". Everything else was just generic courses (Yoshi Falls like you mentioned is not really 'creative,' but is just a circular map with a gigantic Yoshi egg in the center with no meriting value). They could've changed the egg to a treehouse and called it "DK's Treehouse Adventure" or some shit instead of giving DK a generic snow level that doesn't represent any part of DK's homeland at all.

Enlighten me how the AI cheat in MKDS. I think DD!!, MKWii, and even Super Circuit had worse AI.
I agree about Mario Kart Wii, fuck that game. I rank it below DS (with Double Dash is slightly above it).

But ok, let's enlighten the little 16-year-old: basically, 3 random AI members are given a place ahead of time and they're programmed to keep that place unless you pass them. That means you end up racing only the top 3 characters with the others just being there for no fucking reason other than to raise havoc on you. You may not notice this in 50cc since it's very slow, but it's atrocious in 150cc. Why? For example, let's say that you pass Yoshi on a flatland with no items. Suddenly, Yoshi gets the ability to drive twice as fast as you, the human player, can go. They may have implemented this so you wouldn't get bored, but it's generally unfair because all of the AI players are able to turn corners tighter than possible, use items at impossible times, and avoid items in general. Hell, there's been times I've knocked people off cliffs and 3 secodns later they'd pass me with a boost. It's un-fucking-fair and you have to be EXTREMELY biased not to realize it, honestly. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's noticed this.

you have to take into account the DS's hardware for such ports
Oh come on, it's not HARD to port stuff, Nintendo's just lazy as fuck. They're the company who added in two random Toads in NSMB because the developers didn't want to take the time to animate Peach's dress. It's because Nintendo was like "oh, this is good enough" and I seem to be the onle one who isn't biased because it's mother fucking Mario Kart.

come on, this is friggin Nintendo Wi-Fi

Diddy Kong Racing, a game just as busy as MKDS, allowed all 24 tracks for racing, Battle Mode, Token Tussle and T.T.'s Wish Races online. Oh yeah, choose which vehicles are allowed and even choose whether or not to include weapons or the AI. OH, did I mention 6 players can participate online? This is better than Nintendo's attempt at Mario Kart and I practically guarantee it'll be like that for years to come.

It's so nice to judge opinions.
They aren't opinions if there's solid evidence to back them up *insert pretentious, arrogant smilie here*

Sorry for being a dick buddy, but I've played Mario Kart DS more than anyone here -- hell, I used to get world records and I remember when everything was first hacked/discovered. I know what I'm talking about I'd say

I hate how if you unlock the courses, if you play the one that unlocked it again and didnt get a trophy, you couldnt play the unlocked course anymore
