As a Briton, I must say I thought the opening ceremony was absolutely fantastic. My favourite parts were the Mr Bean section, the clever NHS scene, the literature scene and, above all else, the excellent and creative lighting of the flame.
Proud to be British!

Well, the opening scene was bad. I had no idea what was happening during the medieval setting; It just seemed odd. The industrial revolution was good and I especially liked the section with the 5 rings. The NHS part was okay. The James Bond scene was great with the Queen as-well as the Mr. Bean section. However, they could have used better artists than the Arctic Monkeys and Dizzee Rascal. (Take That are much better). The lights and fireworks were a nice touch. The lighting of the torch was arguably the best part of the ceremony. It was still good but overall not the best ceremony I've ever seen.

I agree wholeheartedly

People saying "oh the opening was boring"

Right, it wasn't particularly dynamic, but it was extremely symbolic to the pre-industial revolution times. Captured that period in British history perfectly, and the opening ceremony only got better from there.

So day one finished, and China has 4 golds already! Although the majority of their atheletes are purpose-bred xD

Not a single medel for team GB, which was the same situation in 2008 and we came away with a record haul so it's not necesserily a bad thing. Dissapointed not to get a medel in the men's road race through Mark Cavendish, and he's blaming his rivals (read up on the sport before you think that it's a stupid blame).

Michael Phelps choked xD

Jordyn Wieber not qualifying for the Finals for USA Gymnastics was bullshit. Ross and Alyssa both has major penalties such as having both feet out of bounds, and Wieber only had a fucking heel out of bounds. The rest of her routine was flawless. Can't believe that practically the best gymnist in the world didn't even pass qualifying because the judges were dumb as fuck. USA is definitely fucked in Gymnastics now.

THIS and more are covered in my most recent blog post! (MEDAL COUNT PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED AS WELL!):

Yeah, the blog is fine and all, but NBCOlympics.com really has every single event covered in great detail. I think there's like 1500 hours of footage on there, which is like holy shit lol.

Also, the Men's 400m Freestyle Relay for Swimming wasn't a huge surprise for me. France finally got redemption from last year when we beat them. Cullen did so terrible.
