Kinect (Project Natal)

Still in codename, Project Natal was announced at last year's E3 as an answer to Nintendo's success with motion control. While it might simply look like a camera, the device is actually able to do use your gestures and motions as controls for the game. There is a wide range of diffrent ways to use this technology but will it be worth giving up the controller completely? We will see more at this year's E3 but what do you think of it so far?

Looks like the Official Name is "Kinect". For some reason its kind of hard for me to say. :p I like calling it Natal but I will get used to this just like I did with the Wii.

While there has been plenty of speculation as to what the official name of Project Natal will be, all of those questions were supposed to end on Sunday night at a Microsoft event.

Now it looks like the official name has been posted by USA Today and the motion device is officially called Kinect. There were also a number of games announced including:

Kinectimals
You can play with virtual animals. Lol cat Kinect!

Joyride
A racing game where players steer with their hands.

Kinect Sports
Boxing, bowling, beach vollyball, track and field, soccer and table tennis.

Kinect Adventures
River rafting with friends.

Dance Central
A dancing version of So You Think You Can Dance.

Star Wars and Disney Games

So far today we've seen posts on NeoGaf pointing towards the name "kinetic" based on an old patent filing. There has also been a post pointing to an Xbox 360 redesign, though we have no indication of its credibility.

What do you think of the name Kinect? Let us know in the article comments below our own guesses as to what the name would be.

Hilary Goldstein: The Motion Machine or eMocean Technology
Erik Brudvig: Potential (get it?)
Ryan Geddes: BlunderBus
Rich Snippets: Project Schenectady
Colin Moriarty: Move (my bad!)

An up to date photo of Kinect released today. I really want to see some games that use this besides the little demos like Milo.

A lot of various kinds of media and entertainment is coming to Kinect. Music, more languages for Bing, watching ESPN, etc.

>Motion control

I don't see how that applies to any of it.
