As much as I like Toadette's appearance, Sanae clearly wins the point here, as she has one remarkable outfit, and is quite well designed, even referencing Kanako and Suwako with the snake and toad in her hair.

Sanae has been known to cause miracles to occur. Even Toadette's strongest abilities cannot compare to that.

Toadette has stopped the sun and the moon from brawling, acquired a legendary rod, and helped Mario on his quests. Sanae, being a shrine maiden, resolved two incidents; one involving a floating ship with a powerful youkai and another involving divine spirits.

Toadette is generally willing to help others in need and very energetic. Sanae, on the other hand, is quite one-dimensional and can be harsh to some other characters, especially Kogasa.

Even though Sanae has remarkable danmaku, the games constantly tell us how much of a jerk she can be at times. Toadette keeps the players company with her various moves that keep them in their seats.

Toadette is motivated by her will to help anyone in need and by her desire to explore. Sanae, on the other hand, is motivated by her masters' duties, making her a servant rather than one in control of their actions.

This came down to two games: UNL vs MKDD. While UNL was a good game, MKDD wins here due to more content in it to last longer.

The conclusion: Sanae may perform her duties well, but Toadette is more appealing for me for her numerous positive traits.
