If it can't play Wii discs check out this tutorial so you can play Wii games off an external hard drive.
And VIP, there are tons of guides on the internet that will show you how to get the Homebrew Channel on your Wii & other features. All you really need is an SD card to do it.

Any SD card will work. They're pretty cheap, probably $10 for a 512 mb one, maybe even less now (I haven't bought one in forever). If you have a digital camera, chances are you have an SD card.

If you own a Wii and play it regularly and it isn't hacked, you're doing it wrong.
