Ever Seen Professional Ice Skaters Do a Super Mario Routine?

Posted Mon, 02 May 2011 by James Newton

You can soon

Do not underestimate the impact of Super Mario Bros. — it's inspired beatboxers, flautists, orchestras, artists and plenty more in its 25 year history, but it's rarely hit the limelight for its influence on the world of professional ice skating. Today, that injustice ends.

Top skaters Tatiana Volosozhar and Maksim Trankov took to the rink in the recent 2011 World Championships gala event, in which pro skaters can do something a little different. This video definitely fits in that category, with a female Mario slip-sliding her way through a frankly bizarre routine. Enjoy.

I have never seen ice skaters do a Super Mario Routine. It would be surprising if I did, I would say, "Man, that ice skater just acted like Mario right there."

Have you seen them do so before?

WELL NOW YOU HAVE! =D

Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing but an article vip.

And that was kinda weird.

I've seen them do it backwards.

The routine was pretty "Bleh"

Sorry, but I guess I didn't put in the "[/quote]" part of it.

I was expecting something more Mario-esque. But whatever. And for some reason this made me want to play Super Mario Galaxy.

Eh right, the routine is like Hunt said, Bleh, and the topic is also Bleh....
