What is Generic Grasslands?
You could refer to this page: http://genericgrasslands.mariopartylegacy.com/about
But I'll quickly go over it for you. It's a gaming site targeted at the Nintendo fanboy that actaully plays other non-nintendo games. You get your general gaming news (the major stuff) and each weekday (Mon-Friday) you get some kind of new feature that isn't news. This could be an editorial, a Top 10 list, a video, a preview, etc. Take a look at the link above to see what you get on specific days.
Why did you make Generic Grasslands?
I made a life decision last year. I've been working on Mario Party Legacy for over 3 years now and I've decided I want to go into Journalism. I know I didn't do a lot of writing on MPL, that's why I'm starting Generic Grasslands. This will give me the opportunity to practice. Practice writing news articles, editorials, review, previews, and even play around with video. Even if teh site doesn't take off, it's still there for me to practice.
Generic Grasslands, huh? How do we know this isn't going to turn into a Flamming Controller or Forum Portal?
Speaking of Forum Portal, it was taken down early this morning. The lack of activity and work contributed to shutting it down. There is a memorial image set up for both the late Flaming Controller and Forum Portal on out History page: http://www.mariopartylegacy.com/history
Please contact me with any questions regarding Forum Portal. Vip, if you want to add any dates and maybe some info regarding FC and FP, go ahead and do so.
Back on topic, we don't know. We don't know the fate of Generic Grasslands. It very well could see the same demise Flaming Controller did. I honestly hope for the bestI can tell you I'm going to be working on it regardless of whether people are reading or not.
I'm slightly interested. How can I help?
Keep checking back and help us reach our goal: http://genericgrasslands.mariopartylegacy.com/goal
I'm looking at a 4 member staff. One person would be strictly news, another person would help with features but also help in news, a third person would help with technical stuff (pictures, graphics, wordpress junk, "bigger projects") and would also help with news. The fourth person is me who will be doing everything.
I'm doing things a little different this time around. I won't be picking members right out of the blue. I'm going to request a writing sample from those who want to take a certain position. This will show me a number of qualities, not just writing experience. I'm also not just looking for memebers from this forum. I'm going to go out looking for anyone else interested in working for GG. Right now I'm going to be doing this myself, but sometime after E3 I will start the seraching process. I'll have more info as the time comes.
That's nice and all but how will this affect our Forum?
Mario Party Legacy Forum is the official forum of Generic Grasslands. Why create a new forum when I already have one with a thriving community? No matter what, the MPLF will remain a Mario Party Forum first and foremost.
But there will be some changes. I'd like to intergrate MPLF's userbase with GGs. This would allow you to comment stories on GG using your Forum profile. A new board will also be added. Every time a post is made on GG, a replicated topic will automatically be made in this board. This means you could read the story on the Forum, post a reply and have it show up on GG as a comment.
Not for the time being. Since GG is a subdomain it won't let me enter the path to the forum. I made a support topic that hopefully gets a reply - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wpsmf-plugin-smf-path-subdomain-wordpress?replies=1
A few more changes are comming, but I will have to talk to the Staff about them first.
So it's not Glacier Summer 2?
Nope. Judging by the negative comments I keep reading for all three events we have had (Glacier Summer, Blazing Winter, Conquering Kingdoms), I took it you guys don't want another one. Rejoice!
There are probably a few more things I forgot to mention, so expect this post to be updaed when need be.
