Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart allowed his pet parrot to wander and fly around freely in his studio while he composed many of his famous compositions. The huge parrot reportedly spent a great deal of time perched on Wolfgang's shoulder, nibbling his ear.
Mozart kept a caged starling that he named "Little Fool," a bird that mimicked Mozart's melodies as well as inspired new ones. His little bird's songs were music to Mozart's ears!
