Donkey Kong 64

(Yes I know this released in 1999, but it needs a topic.)

I personally think Donkey Kong is the greatest game of all time.
I've never played Banjo-Kazooie or Banjo-Tooie, and collecting was never my thing before playing this, but I think it really makes it so fun.
I've always seen people say "It's impossible to get 101%" or "The collectables ruin it" but I really can't see why.
The five playable Kongs make it really fun to switch between characters with their special abilities.
And the supporting characters being Cranky, Funky, Candy and Snide make it all even more enjoyable, especially Cranky insulting DK as usual.
The multiplayer mode was also quite fun,
I wish Krusha was playable in the main adventure though
.
My favourite words were Crystal Caves, Creepy Castle and Hideout Helm.
So, for those who have played it, what's your opinion on it?
And for those who haven't, I highly suggest getting it on Wii U Virtual Console, $10 is real steal for a game this good.

I got it and play it on the Wii U, and ok, I'm gonna be honest, this is probably the most repetitive game I ever played in my life.

They added in way too much stuff to collect in the game, there's a lot of backtracking, the minigames you have do to get Golden Bananas are annoying, and a lot of levels just feel empty and way too open (atleast to me),

I do like how you had multiple Kongs to play as, and some of the bosses were fun, but that's about it

I definitely don't think it's a bad game, but it's honestly my least favorite Donkey Kong game I played so far.

Greatest game of all time? Whoa! Hmm... maybe I should look into it. I never really liked collecting, well, anything. I have only 100%ed two games and have never played a game with a collecting focus. [size=2pt]Though it will be hard to be my least favorite Donkey Kong after the snooze fest that was Tropical Freeze.

I had so many great memories with this game!

...but playing it today I see WAY too many flaws. The game feels a bit wonky, the collecting is atrocious, and the overall gameplay isn't very fun. :-\ If they ever made a similar game, they would have to change a lot of the core ideas.
I think the same way really. When we see modern games over that it's very different.  Fresh things are always welcome for a game of that kind.

One of the major problems I had with this game are some of the controls, mostly the swimming controls (which at the time was a big problem for many games).

Back in the days, this was my number one game, my favorite. Though, I can see why today, many features would cause some problems haha. Last time I truly played this game was something around 2 years ago (at most), it was still a blast for me.

This game is my prime and joy, this game literally define my childhood like I would spent countless hours playing this game wheither it be multiplayer mode or adventure mode. I love everything about this game, the soundtrack, level designs, the mini games (even tho some of them were tedious af), the bosses, etc. Now that I look back it nothing didn't really turn me off from the game aside from the repetitive collectibles (which want really much of an issue for me), DK64 is my favorite game of all time and I definitely recommend to those who like challenging adventure/platformer games.
