Thread for arguably the best game series on DS.

Anyone else played these games recently? Just got DoR and it's still amazing. Going to get the Wii U GBA ports and Dual Strike as soon as I'm well enough to work again. Last time I played DS was like 4 years ago. Remember slowly shifting from DS to DoR. DS's tag powers and CO variety were amazing but it was a bit slower. Played the hell out of them, though. Pretty sure I got all but three COs to Level 10 in DS via intense farming. :p

Almost done with DoR's story mode, really fun. That final stage though, so hard. Was getting almost pure S ranks until the last ~5 levels. Really need to get my hands on Dual Strike again but have so many games to buy and ordering one online is just a pain.

As fun as DoR is it took away so much cool stuff. It has like, half or a third of the COs that Dual Strike did? And the few COs it has are all painfully generic. Basically 'raise stats of ground / indirect / air / naval units' ad infinitum. I'd think maybe they're trying to balance it out, but the COs seem as unbalanced as they were in Dual Strike, and with more boring powers at that. I mean, god, it has way fewer COs, no tag powers, none of the side modes that added a lot of replayability, no character perks, no secondary outfits... the graphics are better, but they're also bigger, so you end up having to spend most of the game in the zoomed out mode where you can't see details anyway. :p

The -really, REALLY, REAAAALLY- good thing about DoR is it has 50 level slots. The replayability of Advance Wars was primarily in the level editor for me and it was such a pain dealing with the three slots that DS had. And the battles are faster than Dual Strike's were, IIRC. Damn lot of fun making levels and playing them against the bots.

Though as much as I've complained about DoR it's an incredible game. Still keeping my fingers crossed for Advance Wars 3DS. Will probably pick up an eshop card soon and get the Advance Wars GBA ports for Wii U.
