Anybody love this series? One of the best series on the DS IMO.

Used to play the hell out of AWDS. Would keep making giant maps and playing them off against the AI. When I switched to DoR I didn't like it at first due to it being built with bigger sprites. Ended up making really tiny (down to 3x3) maps, which was hilarious.

It's pretty great. If you've played Fire Emblem you have a basic idea of how the combat works. If you liked FE you'll probably like it, though AW is less about individual people and more about mass produced units.

Both games also have level editors, which is awesome.

Dual Strike was way better iirc. I really didn't like how in DoR the CO powers got nerfed. In DS they were pleasantly overpowered.

I did like some of the new objects they added for the level editor though. But DoR couldn't hold a candle to the huge maps you could easily play on DS.

Really wish they'd make another game already. DS had an incredible amount of replay value and as long as the next one has a level editor...

Kinda sad the series hasn't continued tbh

I'm personally more of a fan of the pre-AW days so titles like (Super) Famicom Wars and the more obscure Game Boy Wars (which has HEXAGONAL tiled maps)

I'm actually kinda interested in possibly making or planning an AW like game with some unique units, given that I also play the Great Little/Big War Game series by Rubicon which feels pretty close to AW but units generally have much more attack range cf AW units (also thinks like snipers, flame tanks and building destruction)

I doubt it would be too hard. AW doesn't seem like that complex a game. If you ever do you should make some playable Nintendo COs. Unless you intend to sell it, that is. :p

I've played both the GLWG games on my tablet. They're pretty good, though the second seems to be 1 with more polish and less features...

Never played first GLWG, 2nd is kinda underwhelming following GBWG but at least flame tanks and medics are included from the get go
I just wish Rubicon actually start developing ELWG (Epic Little War Game) instead of spending dev time promoting Combat Monsters >.>

lol no I'm not planning to sell anything
