[quote author=nytimes]A gunman killed 26 people, 18 of them small children, in a shooting on Friday morning at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., about 65 miles northeast of New York City, a law enforcement official said.  The gunman, who was believed to be in his 20s, walked into a classroom where his mother was a teacher. He shot and killed her and then shot 18 students in the classroom. He also shot seven other adults, and then killed himself inside the school. Various news outlets identified the shooter as Ryan Lanza. The shooting ranks among the worst in recent United States history.

All I got to say to this is good f-ing lord. People are so screwed up in the head.

(i also don't know what the exact number of deaths is)

This is awful. Those kids had wonderful lives ahead of them. Yet some heartless person took them away.

R. I. P. To those 27 people. People need to think about what they do.

(Something similar happened at my school, minus the shooting. A kid's parent hid a gun inside of the student's backpack. However, she was arrested.)

I can't just believe why people are doing so. And he wasn't the only shooter in USA. I can't imagine either why these people kill other people AND them self. What is so wrong in their lives that they have to kill others? Don't think I want those shooters to die, but if there's something so worse in their lives that there's no other way than killing then they should just kill themselves. It doesn't help killing other people.

18 small children died? 18 sounds small, but WOW! When I imagine how 18 children lie there. Dead. Bloody.
It's just awful, horrible, ... (2 hours later) and horrible.

By the way, what do you say would be the punishment for this if he stayed alive?
I don't know American law well.

If the state allows it, then the death penalty. Maybe a life sentence to prison.

And yet nobody pays attention to the drone strikes the US government issues over in the Middle East that kill thousands of innocent children.

Yeah, this was sad and tragic, but come on. Kids are dying overseas by our hands and that doesn't get a s***worth of attention.

My condolences to the family members. I'm not trying to sound like an ass or anything but the above part concerns me.

I swear, something odd is happening here, someone at a mall near where I live went on a shooting spree, and this happens as well, people are bringing guns to school, damn I guess the end is coming. RIP to all those who have cruelly passed so early.

It's not any better at all really, any civilian taken out for any reason is just sad and honestly screwed up, worst part is that we can't do anything.

He should've stayed alive and faced the punishment.

What it have mattered anyway? The deed is done, he would have gotten prison time. Nothing really "redeeming".

That's be a total waste of their (government's) money. Why waste time feeding him and giving him shelter while wasting more time and money with going wo all those court dates? :p
Should've thought it through.  ::)

R.I.P to all the children and staff members that were killed. It is also sad for the family's, i hope they can get through what happened. It will be very hard though  :'(

A 26 year old teacher hid her students in closets and cabinets. So that the gunman would not get to them. She died, but all of her students survived. This is a brave person.  :'(
