Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2 is fueled up with unlockables, and we’re breaking down all characters, karts, courses, secrets, and more.
There’s a ton of new content to find and unlock in Mario Kart World, but you oughta know what’s new before you dive in. For starters, Mario Kart World flips tradition by introducing open world gameplay that lets you drive all across the extensive map. There are missions (think Mario Kart DS!), 24 players playing at once, a new Knockout Tour mode where players seamlessly race across the map with top placements advancing to the next course, the return of battle mode, and new online options, including being able to roam around the map freely with friends. You also get your standard fare of brand new characters, race courses both new and remade, item additions, an all-new soundtrack, and more. The game launched alongside the the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, so it’ll be around for quite some time.
