Japanese Website Reveals Tons of Super Mario Party Jamboree Details

An absolute dump truck amount of Super Mario Party Jamboree information just dropped on the unsuspecting Mario Party fanbase revealing new minigames, board details, and even a new playable character. Love to see a surprise like this.

The official Japanese website for Super Mario Party Jamboree got a complete overhaul with hundreds of new images and dozens of new videos. There’s a lot to parse through, so let’s look at the biggest highlights and coolest revelations.

See her in the corner? Wishes have been granted.

That’s right, Pauline is fully playable. No big announcement to come with this really cool news, just a couple of Pauline appearances across several images and a few videos. Very cool to see her join the cast, and we’ve collected all the images we’ve spotted her in:

A huge chunk of the update is dedicated to the many minigames including in Jamboree. Now that we’ve gotten a glimpse at the minigame select screen, we know that 112 minigames are making it in.

Shy Guy Says is back! But there’s five players…

Also great is the confirmation of retro minigames. We’re not getting that many, but the dozen or so classic minigames are a welcome addition. We’ve cataloged all the retro minigames we’ve seen, and there are even a few minigames up for debate on whether they are actually classic minigames. It’s interesting!

Allies are back?? The website is all in Japanese and we’re not able to get the full details, but the videos show a lot about the changes to this feature. Allies will appear in a dedicated spot on each board. If a player passes the ally and coughs up some cash, an ally battle minigame will begin. This is where the five player minigames come in. The player that summoned the ally will get a few extra points at the start of the minigame. Winner gets to keep the ally.

Players with allies get some really great perks. Visiting a shop? Go ahead and buy two items. Made it to the star? Buy two of them, provided you have enough coins. That said, anything bad that happens to you will happen twice. I’d stay clear of the Bowser spaces. No word on how many allies can be out on the board at a given time, or if it’s possible to lose an ally.

Lots of new items! There’s some kind of warp block that seemingly brings you to a shop, or vice versa. The Plus Block from the original Mario Party is back in the form of a new set of double dice that grant you coins matching the number you roll. Both a Warp Pipe and a Warp Block appear. A 200% sticker can be seen in the shop. And hexes from Mario Party DS get some love! It’s a trap-like item that can be placed on a nearby space. If another player lands on it, you’ll steal their star.

It’s actually quite overwhelming how much information was shared on the website. Every board got a video highlight and the mechanics for mysterious boards like King Bowser’s Keep are fleshed out a bit. Minigame modes got a spotlight too. For now, this is as much as we can cover in this post. Enjoy these extra images and keep an eye out for more coverage!
